Be of good courage, God has a plan. Reading of the Faith Mission & Vision Statement: Quentin Knaak Because of Katie s presence at our first council meeting, we went around and introduced ourselves as well as said what our favorite thing about Faith is. Get to Know Our Staff: Katie Escalante- Katie and her family have been members and involved in the church at St Andrews since she was 9. Now, Katie is married, her husband s name is Jose and has a son, Ben. Katie s ordination ceremony will be October 20 th at St Andrews church in Eden Prairie. On November 18 th, the Synod will be coming out for Katie s installation.

Katie s main areas of focus will be Faith Formation, Social Outreach, and IT/Communications. Getting to Know the Ministries: Stewardship (November- IT) Stewardship- Pastor Dale PBF members have been broken up by each having different areas of responsibility. There were 2 Lead Gift events at Island View (These events are for the lead gift donors in the church). We already have 9 pledges that total over $470,000. November 2 nd is the date we wanted to have the lead gift family s donations in by. We are looking at doing a puzzle piece display so everyone can be aware of our goal/progress. Our goal is $2.5 million. The Powered by Faith kick-off dates are October 24 th and October 28 th. Each family will receive a packet in the mail that will include a letter from Pastor Dale, a brochure and a commitment card. On Monday, October 22, members of the church staff, church council and Powered by Faith leadership teams are invited to a kick-off event for our new three-year campaign. Powered by Faith: Expanding our Impact is the theme of this appeal. We will gather for coffee and dessert at 6:00 in Steiner Hall to celebrate the ministry of Faith Lutheran, hear more details about the campaign, and be empowered as Ambassadors for the appeal. Your leadership has helped prepare Faith Lutheran for this moment. Together, we will prepare to launch Powered by Faith: Expanding our Impact throughout the entire congregation. Commitment Sunday is November 18 th. Pastors Reports: Pastor Katie: Has posted a few things to Facebook and has been trying to get around to all of the groups we have at Faith. Pastor Christine: We just launched Love Does. There are 64 people participating and we have 3 new hosts. We are enjoying the book and having good discussions. There are two big retreats coming up with great leaders. The Fall Women s Retreat is on Friday, November 16 th to Saturday, November 17 th in Eden Prairie. Retreat is being led by Carol Pitz, Leah Plath, and Pastor Christine. How God Manifests Through You. Come away from it all before the holidays start and determine to navigate them with peace in your soul this year. 2019 Winter Faith Marriage Retreat, led by Scott McRae. Individuals and couples and encouraged to join us for our co-ed Winter Marriage Retreat exploring an ancient map known as the Enneagram. The Enneagram is a helpful map, leading us through and beyond our personality types into a deeper knowing that is grounded

and inspired. It guides us beneath the surface of our lives, in ways that are challenging and freeing. It s 9 pathways to living more easily and authentically in the world. Often framed as a personality test, the Enneagram actually invites us out of our boxes rather than putting us into a box. Research suggests that 80% of us function primarily out of a reactive mindset. No wonder we struggle in relationships! Through presentations, and personal and couple reflection times, presenter and spiritual director, Scott McRae, we will seek to unlock some of the life-long patterns that drive us and others a bit crazy. The goal of this retreat is to move closer to ourselves, our partner, and our God so that we feel more alive and free in our lives and relationships. Some issues we will explore: The 9 types of reactivity, and the mental and emotional patterns that keep Us stuck, The 9 pathways that lead us out of reactivity and into our best selves The ancient spirituality of the Enneagram, and its modern psychological Wisdom. What the shadow side of our personality is, and why it wreaks havoc in Our marriages. Practices for the 9 types that lead to relational intimacy and spiritual Growth. If you are new to the Enneagram, you will need to complete an Enneagram Type Indicator in advance. Registrants will receive an on-line link. Both couples and individuals invited to attend. Friends and community members welcome. Registration closes December 30 th. Have been busy launching all the Small Groups. Pastor Dale: Reminder about Monday nights meeting on October 22 nd, beginning at 6:00. New Member Classes- Wednesday, October 24 th and Wednesday, November 7 th or Sunday, October 28 th. Invited council to stop by and introduce selves/ministry. It is a good time to connect with new members. Katie s installation is Sunday, November 18 th and she will be preaching. Annual Ministry Reports due October 29 th. The Sermon Series is getting good feedback. Thanksgiving Ecumenical Services will be held at St Joe s Monday, November 19 th at 7pm. Katie, Dale and Jim attending a Clergy Appreciation breakfast at Westview Acres. Treasurer's Report: Revenue for the month of September increases slightly- $5375 over budget. However, we are

still trailing behind YTD budget by $26,000 or 3.5%. Hopeful with the recent mailing of members statements- we will see everyone fulfilling their pledge amounts. Operating expenses are slightly ahead of budget for the month but under budget for the YTD. We have decrease in payroll (Pastor Christine PT status) but we also paid Kairos two payments for the capital campaign (this expense was not budgeted). Motion to approve the Treasurer s report as submitted by Treasurer Craig Sinclair and the Secretary s report for July 2018 as submitted via email by Peggy Phillipy was made by Aaron Kopel. The motion was seconded by Richard Scott. All approved. Motion carried. Key Discussion Topics: 1. 2019 Budget- 2019 budgets are due to Mike and Craig by November 5 th. 2. Next Congregational Meeting- This has been set for Sunday, November 11 th. Annual reports are due on October 29 th. 3. New Member Class- This was already discussed in Pastor Dale s Pastor Report. 4. LRP Proposed Process- The LRP is due to be updated/revised. Richard and Pastor Dale will lead the process on this. We would build on the MAP feedback. We want a livable, breathable blueprint guide. We will have listening sessions and possibly have available online. We are always open for feedback. We will have a task force, come up with a plan and then take to the council. Ministry will have input on how they will help to reach goals. Many hands make light work. 5. Project Updates- Actual Project Contact Budget Cost Status Sound/Projection for Community Room Dale P. $5,700 On hold New Shrubbery around Faith Sign Scott / Craig $2,000 Will clean up the front and postpone until Spring.
