EPISCOPAL June 2013 Luke 7:1-10 After Jesus had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people he entered Capernaum. A centurion there had a slave whom he valued highly, and who was ill and close to death. When he heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his slave. When they came to Jesus, they appealed to him earnestly, saying, He is worthy of having you do this for him, for he loves our people, and it is he who built our synagogue for us. And Jesus went with them, but when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to say to him, Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, therefore I did not presume to come to you. But only speak the word, and let my servant be healed. For I also am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me, and I say to one, Go, and he goes and to another, come, and he comes, and to my slave, Do this, and the slave does it. When Jesus heard this he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, he said I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith. When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave in good health. 1

Senior Warden s Message Spring, summer or winter, which is it here in Idaho the weather is constantly changing. So goes the world. Babies are being born, people are ill while others are leaving this earth to be with the Lord. I am happy to report that Mary Dallas, Don Winters, and Jan Cheever, are all out of the care facilities and recuperating at home. One of our new members, Alice Hamilton fell and broke her hip and is recovering in a care facility. I am sad to report that long-time member, Phyllis Bailey has passed on. Please keep Fred, her husband, in your prayers, as he struggles to go on without her. Regular Youth Group and Young Church Women will not be having regular meetings during the summer. There will be activities during the church service for the Sunday School aged children, and Nursery care will be provided. A big Thank you to all the Sunday School Teachers, Youth Leaders, Young Church Women s Leaders, and Nursery Attendants for their hard and dedicated work during the school year! Without you, we would have no activities for our young people! The young people of our church are the future of our church! Be Our Guest Meals will continue the first and third Wednesday of each month. Personal Hygiene items are distributed the first Wednesday of the month This is when we hand out laundry detergent, toilet tissue, dish soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. We also open the clothing closet for them to do their FREE shopping. This has been an ever growing and rewarding outreach project. 2

Senior Warden s Message (cont.) Please remember to pray for the victims of the horrific tornados in Oklahoma, and also thank God that we here in Idaho are safe and sound. Starting May 6th we will change to our summer Schedule, with One Service at 9:30am. Don t forget to register for Camp at Paradise Point. Clare Barrett o Holy Nativity is going to be the Dean for Women's Camp, and Alice Farquhar-Mayes will be the Spiritual Director. There is camp information in the gym Scholarships are available. Summer is the time that Holy Nativity struggles financially. Please remember to keep your pledges up to date. Thanks for your help. Our Summer Activities will include Vacation Bible School to be held July 29th-Aug 1 from 10AM-1PM. We hope that you will make arrangements for your children to attend, and if you are available, that you will volunteer to help. Contact Christy Fendley at 631-8837 if you can provide help or supplies. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful summer and that you will include Church at Holy Nativity when your schedule allows. May the blessings of the Lord be with you.
