Louisiana Assembly of the Ministerial Fellowship 2011-2012 Memo February 14, 2012 (corrected copy) The IA Ministerial Fellowship will continue to work together in Building effective relationships. The Ministerial Fellowship meeting will be held March 22-23, 2012 at Comfort Suites Riverfront Hotel in Vidalia, La. The theme for the meeting is "Building Effective Relationships in Accordance With the Word of God". Matthew 7 and John 17. Dr. Rawleigh Quarles, Sr. from Roanoke, Virginia will be the speaker. Dr. Quarles is a native of Virginia. He is the recipient of two Honorary Doctorate degrees, the Honorary Doctorate of Divinity and the Honorary Doctorate of Humanities (Humane Letters). He is the Pastor of Staunton Avenue Church of God in Roanoke, Virginia and has served in this position for over seventeen years. He has held and still holds several key positions of leadership for the Church of God in Virginia (COGVA) which incorporates all African American and Anglo Saxton congregations of the Church of God in the commonwealth of Virginia. Prior to being elected as the first Chairperson for the two unified bodies (the Virginia Association of the Church of God and the Virginia Assembly of the Church of God), he served as Chairperson for the Virginia Association of the Church of God. He currently serves as Vice Chair for Church Services/Credentials Committee for the State of Virginia and he is also a member of the Executive Board of the COGVA. Dr. Quarles is a saved; Holy Ghost filled and an inspired man of God, who is humbled to have been divinely called by God to proclaim the Divine Word of God. I want to encourage not only ministers, but all laity people including State Ministry Team Members to come and be a part of this fellowship. Everyone is welcome. The cost of the meeting is $50 for ministers and $15 for your spouse, which includes registration and the banquet. Opening prayer service and conference will be led by Dr. Quarles.
Registration will be from 2:00-4:00pm at the Comfort Suites Hotel lobby. The first conference will begin at 3:30pm in the Riverfront Hotel Conference Center. Ministerial Fellowship Speaker: Dr. Rawleigh W. Quarles, Sr. Dr. Rawleigh W. Quarles, Sr. is a native of Virginia. He was born in Bedford, County and spent his early childhood in Roanoke, County and grew up in Roanoke, City. Three years after graduating from Lucy Addison High School, he was inducted into the City of Roanoke Fire Department and while there, he furthered his education by attending several colleges and graduating from the National Fire Academy of Emmetsburg, Maryland. During his more than 31 years of service in the Roanoke City Fire Department, he achieved and held every official position of rank including the position of Chief of the Fire Department. After serving in this position for 5 and 1/2 years, he took an early retirement to accept the position of Senior Pastor for the Staunton Avenue Church of God. In 1962 he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara A. Girst. They are the proud parents of three beautiful children, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
