PARISH NEWS PARISH DIRECTORY The directories are in. Please stop by Bovard Hall after all masses to pick yours up if you had your photo s taken. A special thank you to Kathy Miller for spearheading & organizing this huge project, Richard Cox for the layout, Paul Crnkovic and Pat Beatty for organizing all of the greeters, Connie O Lare, the telephone committee, and Andy James. Thank you to everyone who greeted parishioners each evening. We couldn t have done it without all of you. SJN BLOOD DRIVE - TODAY, NOV. 4 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM BOVARD HALL PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING BLOOD! NOVEMBER ELECTION As the election draws near, please note that no candidate or political party will be endorsed anywhere on church property. Do not place signs, posters, pamphlets within the boundaries of SJN property. CANDY CANDY CANDY It's that amazing time of year when candy is abundant. Of course we would like you to donate some of that Halloween surplus to the poor as always. AND we'd like to call your attention to the next sweet feast on the horizon- CHRISTMAS- when candy is also appreciated and shared. Take a look at the mouth-watering chocolate in our Sarris flyer today. Consider ordering your sweet gifts through SJN and help us raise some $ for the parish programs. All orders are due by November 16 and candy will be delivered on Dec 7 - in good time for out of town presents. Your prompt return of the order form and payment to the Rel Ed office will be greatly appreciated. FINANCIAL UPDATE The Finance Committee spoke last Sunday at all Masses regarding St. John Neumann s 6/30/2012 year end financial overview. As our expenses are increasing, our income remains the same & considering we need a new roof, (have you noticed the blue tarp covering the skylight in the church?) we are asking you to consider an increase to your contributions by 3%. If you can give more - THANK YOU! If you are currently using Direct Deposit for your monthly contributions and would like to increase the amount you are currently giving, please email or call Joan in the Parish Office (ext. 10) & we ll be happy to make the change. If you would like to sign up for direct deposit, debit authorization forms are available. Also, if you are interested in receiving a copy of the highlights that were discussed at Mass last week-end, copies are available in the Parish Office. TURKEY SUNDAY Today is TURKEY SUNDAY for the Perry Hilltop Food Bank. It s a special collection we do each year to help provide a turkey & trimmings to people less fortunate. The collection box will be in the back of the church after all Masses. This special collection will be taken with the regular monthly collection. SPIRITUAL BOOK OF LIFE We remember our dear departed loved ones in a special way during the month of November. The church sometimes calls it the month for All Souls. To commemorate this time we have a Book of Life in the narthex where you can add the name of someone who has died and the date on which they entered eternal life. The names in this book will be remembered in our prayers at daily mass. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace. Amen. YEAR OF FAITH The "door of faith" opens for each and every member of the Church at Baptism. Every Catholic is called to be a disciple of Christ and proclaim the gospel. Pope Benedict XVI announced this Year of Faith to encourage us to deepen our relationship with Christ and to share the joy of that relationship with others. To provide an opportunity to deepen our faith and community, Fr. Al will offer a special presentation on the Models of the Church on Wednesday, Nov 14 after the 6:30 Mass. Clear your calendar and come! Let's grow together in faith. SUNDAY MISSALS The liturgical year for 2011-2012 comes to a close this month as we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King on November 28. Many people in the parish use the Sunday Missal to prepare for the Sunday readings. The NEW books have arrived for the church year 2012-2013. They are on display in the lobby and can be purchased for $3. They are a nice gift for some of our elderly or home bound friends who can't always join us for Sunday Mass. SCRIPTURE STUDY Preparation is necessary for a rich experience so consider getting ready for Sunday Mass with us. Every Thursday morning from 9:45 till 11:15 or so a group of adults gather to read and reflect on the Sunday Scripture readings. We add some history, prayer and lived experiences to the reflection after the readings are proclaimed. There is always a NEW way of seeing God's Word alive in us. Come and enliven us more! The coffee is on and the door is open. Just come and see.

BAPTISM PREPARATION Blessings to all those anticipating the celebration of this sacrament in their family. It is an awesome encounter with the Lord and a gift too wonderful to explain. Please consider spending some time preparing for this life changing event. A married couple will lead the reflection on baptism on Sunday, November 11 from 10:30 till noon. Please call the Rel Ed office to register. YOUTH CHOIR Girls and boys in grades 3-9 are invited to join the Youth Choir for the Advent and Christmas season. Rehearsal begins TO- DAY, Nov. 4, immediately after the 9:30 AM Mass until Noon in the Children s Choir Room. If God has blessed you with a good voice, give it back to him! Everyone is welcome! MAGNIFICAT COMPANION Order your Year of Faith Companion book today. This investment of $2.50 will give you a daily reflection/prayer for each day of this Year of Faith. Call the Rel Ed office to reserve your book now. CHRISTMAS PAGEANT It s not TOO far away so Anyone interested in being part of our pageant on Sunday, Dec. 16 at SJN? Call Barb Stokes if you want to see it happen. We have some young people who are excited, but we need more - singers, actors and help. SACRAMENTAL RCIA This is a process of discernment and decision that is open to all who seek to discover more about the Catholic Church. We open wide the door of faith to all who want to look at our way of following the Lord Jesus. If you are not baptized or baptized in another religious denomination and would like to explore the teachings and treasures of the Catholic Church, please come to our RCIA sessions beginning Saturday, Nov. 10 from 9:30 to 11 AM. Let's make this Year of Faith a welcoming time for all and extend the invitation to "come and see. BAPTISMS, OCTOBER 2012 We welcome into our community of Faith...
