I hope that you all had a great 4 th of July with your family and friends and that the rest of your summer is a lot of fun and sun! I of course was in Montreal for International convention, it was an amazing experience and something I will never forget. Thank you for funding your President and letting her be able to go and participate with all the Clubs and Districts of Pilot! It is a generous gift. I want to also thank you for participating in the actual hard work of Plans of Work at our July meeting and letting us know what you are interested in and wanting to do in Projects and Fundraising. We will collate it all and have it ready for Editor s Corner The deadline for monthly submissions will be the 25th of each month. We need pictures as well as information. Harbor Lights will usually be distributed the first week of each month. I ll look forward to hearing from you! Jackie jackie.moore@cpschools.com our Club vote in August and then we are ready to start our year. We have lots of new ideas and of course some of our favorites, so please make it a point to attend the August meeting. Your vote is needed and wanted. We have various pilots who are sick and on the mend, we miss you and look forward to seeing you at our future meetings. A special welcome to Rosalind Gilbert our new member, please be sure to give her a warm Pilot friendship and help her get acquainted with Pilot life! Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve... You don't have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. ~Martin Luther King, Jr. In Pilot Friendship Jean Brown-May 2016, Issue 8 2016 Jean Brown-May, President LPCCC

The Elephant Rope http://www.livin3.com/5-motivational-and-inspiring-short-stories As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not. He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. Well, trainer said, when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free. The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn t, they were stuck right where they were. Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? Failure is part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life. Page 14
