United Methodist Church of Antioch Transfiguration Sunday March 3, 2019 8:00 and 10:30 am GATHERING The mission of the United Methodist Church of Antioch is to grow in faith; to worship God following the teachings of Jesus Christ, and to be instruments of God s love through the Holy Spirit as we reach out to our community and the world. PRELUDE ANNOUNCEMENTS/MISSION STATEMENT WE CONFESS OUR SINS Lord Jesus Christ, you are the way of peace. Come into the brokenness of our lives and our land with your healing love. Help us to be willing to bow before you in true repentance, and to bow to one another in real forgiveness. By the fire of your Holy Spirit, melt our hard hearts and consume the pride and prejudice which separate us. Fill us, O Lord, with your perfect love, which casts out our fear, and bind us together in that unity which you share with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Amen. PASSING OF THE PEACE EXODUS 34: 29-35 *SONG OF GATHERING # 2103 We Have Come at Christ s Own Bidding *WE ARE WELCOMED TO WORSHIP L: On glory s mountaintops of wonder and delight, we wait: P: for God s amazing grace to transform our shadowed lives. L: In the valleys of everyday life, where noise overwhelms us, we wait: P: willing to waste time simply being in God s presence. L: In the devouring fires of fear, in the mist of misguided living, we wait, P: for the one who comes in majesty, to lead us down the paths of humility. *WE SHARE IN PRAYER Gracious God you who surprise us with new experiences of love we come with reverence to praise and adore you. Help us to be open to your appearance among us and within us. Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us. As we gather as your people, make us attentive to your Word and ready to do your bidding. Grant that we may know your touch and enter into your glory. We ask it in the name of Christ Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God both now and forever and who taught us to pray:
THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. CHILDREN S TIME HYMN In Christ Alone In Christ alone, my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song; This cornerstone, this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My comforter, my all in all, here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone, who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save. Till on that cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied; for every sin on Him was laid, here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay, light of the world by darkness slain. Then bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory, sins curse has lost its grip on me; for I am His and He is mine, bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the pow r of Christ in me. From life s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No pow r of hell, no scheme of man, can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home, here in the pow r of Christ I ll stand.
