We all know, however, of our need to promote vocations year round---especially to the priesthood and religious life. If you know of a young man or woman whom you feel God may be calling, consider asking them if they have considered a religious vocation. God uses us to invite! Let us also be people who pray frequently for religious and priestly vocations. Stop by the table in the BWC entrance and pick up some special prayers for vocations. For more information, you can check out www.gbvocations.org or www.usccb.org. Vocation Prayer Gracious God, you have blessed me with many gifts and talents. Grant me the wisdom to know how best to use them for the glory of your name. Jesus calls, "Come follow me." I want to follow you and be faithful to my call. Help me to see in myself what you see, and give me the courage to follow wherever you may lead. Bless the Church with generous hearts, eager to serve your people and to spread your Word. Amen. 131 S. A NOTE FROM YOUR PASTOR On the weekend of November 14th and 15th, we will hold our annual stewardship drive. The USCCB designated this weekend as National Stewardship weekend. First, I thank all those who have volunteered in some capacity at our parish. You don't realize how important you are! The staff and I could never meet all the needs of our people by ourselves. On another note, I ask a favor. When you can't make it on the weekend of your scheduled liturgical ministry, it is very helpful when you call or email one of the other volunteers directly and switch places with them. This saves a lot of time for our staff. I encourage you not simply to ask them to take your spot, but to also offer to take theirs so that your substitute doesn't needlessly become overwhelmed. Finally, if volunteers can make it a goal to help recruit new volunteers such as ushers, servers, and choir members, to name a few, this is critical. So those are a few thoughts. And if any of you are reading this and have been thinking of stepping forward in service, please do. We can't do it without you! Fr. Joe WREATH AND FRUIT SALE Credo Student Brock Kocian, will be selling wreaths for the Boy Scouts and fruit for Reedville band this coming two Sundays. November 8th & 15th immediately following Sunday Mass here at the Cathedral and at St. John s. HOLY COMMUNION DISTRIBUTION CHANGE In our effort to have the Mass flow smoothly, the Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion will now remain in one place throughout Holy Communion and will no longer go out to the Resurrection Room to distribute Holy Communion. All parishioners are encouraged to sit within the body of the church for Mass. The desire is to have all parishioners fully experience the sacrament of the Mass together and feel welcome to join us around the table of our Lord as part of our faith community. This new procedure will require a change in the flow of Communion lines. Please follow the ushers as they have been instructed of this change. We ask your patience as we attempt to implement these new procedures and work out any bugs. St. John the Evangelist Parish 413 Saint John Street, Green Bay, WI 54301 920-436-6380 Liturgical Schedule Tuesday: 8:30 am - Mass Thursday: 8:30 am - Mass Saturday: 5:30 pm - Mass Sunday: 10:45 am - Mass ST. PRAYER CORNER "It's true I suffer a great deal- but do I suffer well? That is the question." ~~St. Therese of Lisieux Do I suffer well? What kind of question is that! Most of us prefer to avoid suffering, not do it well! St. Therese is challenging us; we all have to suffer at times in this life. Do we use it as an opportunity to grow closer to God? Jesus desires us to offer our sufferings to Him with complete trust and love, knowing that "in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Rom. 8:28) During times of suffering, don't lose hope or give up. Cling to Jesus, "He alone is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken." (Ps. 62:6).
