Please bow your heads for our Opening Prayer *OPENING PRAYER Lord God, give us strength in trying times and be our help and support in trouble. Help us to remember that You are there in all that we face. It is with joy we worship You today, knowing that You are with us. Amen. Our first hymn today is *HYMN No. 263 All Hail the Power of Jesus Name! CORONATION *CALL TO CONFESSION If we say we are without sin, we deceive ourselves. Let us confess our sins before Almighty God.

Let us pray *PRAYER OF CONFESSION Merciful God, whose love knows no ending, hear our prayers. Our lives are often filled with contradictions. We see a world full of hate and anger and do nothing about it. People are suffering from hunger, poverty, and want, yet we guard our own possessions greedily. Even in our own families we see the emotional suffering of those we love but cannot reach out to them. Lord, forgive our unwillingness to help those around us. Give us the patience and the skills to help those in need and give us wisdom when we reach out to others. In Jesus name we pray. (Please wait about 20 seconds, and then say,) Amen. *ASSURANCE OF PARDON Brothers and sisters in Christ, believe the good news of the Gospel. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. *RESPONSE: Hymn #836 Abide with Me (vs. 3) EVENTIDE I need Thy presence every passing hour; what but Thy grace can foil the tempter s power? Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me. TIME FOR YOUTH You may be seated and at this time would our youth please come forward. (If there are no youth (besides the regulars,) then just say you may be seated. ) Please bow your heads for our Prayer of Illumination PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION Lord, be a lamp for our souls as we read and hear Your word. Illuminate it with the glow of Christ s love and light a fire in our hearts for Your love. Amen. Our Psalter Lesson comes from Psalm 146 please read it responsively with me. PSALTER LESSON From Psalm 146 Please read responsively Leader: Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, O my soul! People: I will praise the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God all my life long. Leader: Do not put your trust in princes, in mortals, in whom there is no help. People: When their breath departs, they return to the earth; on that very day their plans perish. Leader: Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God, People: who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever; Leader: who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free; People: the LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous. Leader: The LORD watches over the strangers; He upholds the orphan and the widow, but the way of the wicked He brings to ruin. People: The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD! Leader: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God!
