Get Ready The Letters of Paul to the Thessalonians are among his earliest writings, and are driven by his belief and the belief of the entire early Christian community that the return of Christ was imminent. Therefore, to devote time or attention to anything else was foolish. As time progressed, this fervor receded a bit. Today we may wonder, when we hear these readings about the coming end-times, if we should take them to heart. What should we do when we hear that the day of the Lord will come upon us like a thief at night? (1 Thessalonians 5:2) Does this mean we are to stop our long-range goal-setting, get rid of our yearly calendars and planners, or stop putting money in the college education fund? Of course not. What it does mean is that we need to change our lives, living like children of the light and illuminating the world around us with the light of the gospel. Then, on that day, when the details of our daily living become unimportant, we will be ready to find our peace and security in Christ Jesus. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. Christmas Ministry The St. Anne Christmas Ministry will kick off the holiday season this weekend. We will once again have our gift-giving tree filled with Christmas wishes from young to old. Some tags may contain a first name, and others may not; however be sure to know that each tag was created for a specific individual in our community, and they are counting on our support. Remember to shop with SCRIP, or when in doubt, a gift card from SCRIP is sure to please, especially for teens and adults! We cannot stress enough the importance of returning the tag with the gift by the due date! The due date will be printed on the tag. If you lose your tag or find that you are unable to purchase a gift, please let us know. While our children love to pick tags from the tree, we ask that a parent supervise so that you are aware and can commit to what was chosen. Thank you in advance for your understanding and help to reach our goal of 100% tag/gift return! We always welcome "extra" items, if you are a bargain shopper and have collected items throughout the year, please mark them as such and bring them in! Large gifts bags and tissue paper are always needed. Sign up sheets for our holiday events will be available starting next weekend. If you have any questions regarding the St. Anne's Christmas Ministry, please contact Linda Strauss at 942-0807 or Shannon Walczak at 948-1486. United at the Heart: Collection for the Support of La Sagrada Familia Information will arrive in mailboxes early in December. For the last several years, parishioners have been invited to share in the mission of our diocesan parish in the Dominican Republic, La Sagrada Familia, by participating in a second collection on a designated Sunday in December. One of the purposes of the collection, in addition to providing much needed support for the parish ministries, is to keep awareness of our connection with this special parish in our hearts and minds. This year the goal is the same but the mechanism will change. Rather than having a second collection, this year there will be a special mailing to all registered households. The mailing will go out the first week of December. Using a direct mail approach, more information about La Sagrada Familia can be in people s hands as they consider their offering. If you have any questions, please contact the World Mission Ministries Office at 414-758-2282 or by email at mensaha@archmil.org. You can also contact our LSF Ministry Chair, LeAnn Rogan at 262 498 8835. Ask yourselves: What will I do more of because it makes my family members feel happy, loved? What will I stop doing because it makes someone feel bad, sad? How well do I really know my family members? Can I answer these questions about every parent and every child in my family? Try it in the car together! Who is your best friend? What is your favorite color? Food? What makes your heart hurt? What do you have fun doing?
