GENERAL COUNCIL NEWS MEMBERSHIP Tom Green Congratulations to our newest Knight, James Gebhart! James took his First Degree on Wednesday Evening, August 26th, at St. Mary of the Assumption. The Exemplification was hosted by Coffee Run Council with our own First Degree Team. Team Members were Jerry Safranski (GK), Tom Strab (DGK), Gene Sinko (C), Terry Hills (FS), Rusty Giles (W) & Larry Maguire (IG & music). Mile Bailey and I were observers of the Degree Ceremony. Also, a special Congratulations to Giuseppe Saggese for completing his journey to full knighthood by taking his Third Degree on August 24th, at Seton Council! Gerry Safranski and I were observers. The next Knights Open House is planned for October 28th (hopefully, following pulpit announcements at all previous weekend Masses if Father Dillingham agrees). SUPER 50-50 Tom Green Our annual Super 50-50 raffle will kick off with the mailing of tickets and letters parishioners on Thursday, September 15th in the St. Mary's Room. All are welcome to come and help out starting at 9AM. Refreshments will be provided. FOURTH DEGREE INVITATION Tom Green Cardinal Gibbons Assembly No. 150 invites all 3rd Degree Knights of Coffee Run Council to consider becoming a 4th Degree Sir Knight. An Exemplification of the 4th Degree will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Wilmington, DE. The principle of the 4th Degree is Patriotism. For more information contact Tom Green (tdgreen48@comcast.net) or John McCormick, FN (jesemcc@comcast.net). PRO-LIFE John Baldo ULTRASOUND PROGRAM: A Door of Hope is opening a new pregnancy center in Middletown in September and the Knights of Columbus will fund the center's ultrasound machine. State Council is conducting the fund raising and Coffee Run has contributed $1000 and sent an additional $4000 which we have been holding on behalf of the Ultrasound Program. PLANNED PARENTHOOD Shocking videos of immoral selling of aborted babies and their organs have been published for all to see. Planned Parenthood, established by Margaret Sanger as a part of the Eugenics movement to rid the planet of undesirables, poses as a women's health organization while doing just the opposite of health. Delaware Right to Life reports that Delaware has 18 clinics and centers that really do serve women's health, and are not funded by the government as PP is. Your council donates to at least six of those centers. Please continue to pray for an end to abortion. MEMORIAL CROSSES The council will once again erect our field of crosses in memory of babies killed in abortion. The crosses will stand at the Lancaster Pike church entrance during October, pro-life month. We will also recite a rosary every Tuesday in October after 8:30 mass, at the crosses, to pray for an end to abortion. Save the date: October 10 at 11:00 AM. Father Chris Coffiey, Chaplain of Coffee Run Council 6768, will give a presentation on the subject Death with Dignity It s not what you think, at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Hockessin. 2
ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY Rt. 41 Cleanup - Saturday, October 17 from 7:00am to 10:00am. Come by and help your fellow Knights clean the roadside from the DE-PA border to Brackenville Road. Meet in St. Mary's parking lot for coffee, donuts, trash bags, and hi-visibility vests. Bring gloves and any tools that may be helpful. Please consider helping even if you have only an hour to spare. Contact Jim Ambrose at (302) 275-3579 or jamesrambrose@aol.com if you are able to help. It's a great way to meet other Knights and chat a bit here and there while keeping the main road in St. Mary's neighborhood in ship shape! UD FOOTBALL PARKING UD has 6 home games this year. Coffee Run has agreed to provide at least 5 people at each game. It is normally a 5 and half hour commitment on site for each game. If you are interested in helping with this program you will need to fill out a LAZ Parking employee form. They are paying $10/hr per person to Coffee Run. Any Questions please ask Ralph Paulus Paulusre@yahoo.com or 302-234-1897 or Mike Bailey. The home games are on September 4 th and September 12 th, October 3 rd and October 24 th, and November 7 th and November 14 th. See details for reporting times to help out in the Schedule of Events on page six. Help is still needed for all games. Don t forget you get into the stadium to watch the second half of these games. COFFEE RUN COUNCIL DONATIONS FOR COLUMBIAN YEAR ENDING 6/30/2015 John Baldo All of these donations are made possible by the diligent work of all brother Knights who volunteer time and talent to our various events during each year.
