Camp Chaverim Week 6 It is hard to believe that another amazing summer in Camp Chaverim is coming to an end. Even though this was the last week of camp, we didn't have a chance to relax. The fun kept on coming. Before we get to the unbelievably fun activities that we did this week, let s get to some sports highlights. Aiden Harow threw 4 touchdown passes in the Superbowl to keep his team in the game. Nehemya Berdugo scored the winning goal in soccer, while Eli Flug had a hat trick. In basketball, Zach Gross had a whopping 13 points for his team. Moshe Ettedgui was on fire as he led his team with 6 baskets 2 games in row!! Tuesday was a real highlight in camp as we went on our final trip to Uncle Bernie s Amusement Park. With roller coasters, bumper cars, the log floom, bumper boats and of course the octopus, everyone had an awesome time. It was a great way to end off an amazing summer!! On Friday, we had our siyum and awards ceremony. It was great to hear from some of our friends as they shared Divrei Torah summarizing what we learned with our Rebbeim this summer. The camp video gave us all an opportunity to go down memory lane and relive all the exciting moments of this summer. Finally, we each received a personalized trophy presented to us by our counselors. We couldn t have dreamed of a greater camp experience! At this time, we would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for allowing us to teach, inspire, play and have a blast with your incredible children. We hope you are as proud of your sons as we are! Can t wait for Camp Chaverim 2014! In this weeks פרשה we are told: 5&4 Bunks - "ו ע תּ ה י שׂ ר א ל מ ה ה' א לקי ך שׁ א ל מ ע מּ ך כּ י א ם ל י ר אה א ת ה א לקי ך ל ל כ ת בּ כ ל דּ ר כ יו וּל אה ב ה א תוֹ ו ל ע ב ד א ת ה' א לקי ך בּ כ ל ל ב ב ך וּב כ ל נ פ שׁ ך " This פסוק teaches בני ישראל that all ' ה is asking of us is to fear Him and serve Him ה ' that seems to imply that the things פסוק with all of our hearts and souls. The wants us to do are not that difficult to do. These words of משה seem to be saying something that does not seem to be true. The גמרא asks: Is fear of ' ה such a small thing that משה says all that ' ה wants? The גמרא answers that for,משה this indeed was a very easy thing to do. The question is, then why would משה be saying this to?בני ישראל One answer that is given is that the גמרא was not saying that for משה it is an easy משה was suggesting that with someone like גמרא Rather, the.ה ' fear thing to בני ישראל This means that since.ה ' fear to בני ישראל around, it was much easier for grew close to משה and had a relationship with him, they were going to have an.ה ' of fear,יראת ה ' with easier time The idea of this גמרא according to this explanation is that in order for us to manage our ' יראת ה and not struggle with it, we need to develop a relationship with a רבי or a parent. - Bunk 6 In this week s,פרשה the פסוק says that Hashem keeps His eyes on ארץ ישראל from the beginning of the year to the end of the year - השנה ועד אחרית שנה.מרשית However, instead of the normal spelling of the word,מראשית the תורה spells it without the letter.א In ראש השנה,מסכת Rebbi Yitzchak (as explained by Rashi) learns from here that the תורה is hinting to another lesson. One who makes himself poor ) )רש at the beginning of the year, will experience wealth at the end of the year. This means, that when we come before Hashem on ראש השנה, we should daven as if we are poor people, and Hashem will make sure we have enough money to last the year. The question is how can a billionaire daven on ראש השנה as if he is a poor person? Should he fool himself into thinking that he doesn t own many cars, houses and yachts? Hashem would not want a person to lie to himself. So how can he daven like a poor person? Rabbi Naftali Tropp זצ "ל gives a beautiful answer. On ראש השנה we have to feel like poor people. The only reason the billionaire has a lot of money is because on last השנה,ראש Hashem decided that he would make a lot of money that year. However, who says that Hashem will decide the same way the following year? Therefore, when we stand before Hashem on השנה,ראש we are starting once again from zero. This is how we can truly feel and act as poor people. We learn from here, that we must realize that everything comes from ',ה and it always going to depend on Him! 1) What are the 7 species that ארץ ישראל is blessed with??ברכת המזון of מצוה teaches us the פסוק 2) What 3) Where in והיה אם שמוע do we learn that you must feed your pets before sitting down to eat? 4) When is the proper time for Hashem to give us rain?
