Course/Module description: Study of the biblical compositions that were composed in the Restoration period (or describe this period) using literary critical research methods. The following books will be discussed: Ezra-Nehemiah, Chronicles, Isaiah 40-66, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Esther and Daniel. We will discuss various aspects of this literature, including textual, exegetical, historical and ideological. We will identify the central issues discussed by these authors, and the different worldviews expressed in their works. Course/Module aims: (1) to provide the basic tools for the study of the late biblical books, in their literary and historical context. (2) a "comparative" reading of different works of different genres that focus on this period. (3) to locate the literature of the Restoration period within its broader historical context (the Persian world). (4) to examine the literary development of each work (with particular emphasis on Ezra-Nehemiah). Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to: Analyze literature of the Restoration period according to the philological-textual method. Discuss comprehensively the late biblical books and the exegetical issues that arise when reading them. Interpret verses and passages in Jubilees with the assistance of previous exegetes. Assess the advantages and disadvantages of specific interpretations/interpreters. Formulate clearly these conclusions in oral and written form. Attendance requirements(%): 85 Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Seminar course. Students who choose to write a seminar paper will present a summary of their work in front of the other participants in the class. Course/Module Content: 1.
