תאור כללי של הקורס: לתרגום מקום חשוב בהסטוריה האנושית כפרקטיקה שאפשרה מעבר של ידע מסוגים שונים מעבר לגבולות גיאוגרפיים ותרבותיים. באסיה מגוון לשוני ותרבותי עשיר אפשר את התפתחותן של תאוריות ופרקטיקות תרגום שונות, מימי קדם עד ימינו. הקורס יתמקד במסורות תרגום אסיתיות בדגש על דרום ודרום מזרח אסיה ובקשר בין דת ותרגום דרך בחינת ההסטוריה והפרקטיקה של תרגום באיסלאם, נצרות והינדואיזם. מטרות הקורס: במהלך הקורס התלמידים: 1.יתוודעו לגישות בתחום לימודי התרגום 2. יתוודעו למסורות תרגום שונות מדרום ודרום מזרח אסיה 3. יתוודען לדרכים בהן שפה, מקום והשקפת עולם דתית תורמות לעיצוב מסורות תרגום שונות. תוצרי למידה בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים: 1. להכיר גישות בסיסיות בתחום לימודי התרגום 2. להכיר מסורות תרגום שונות מדרום ודרום מזרח אסיה 3. להבין ולנתח את הקשר בין אמונות ופרקטיקות דתיות ומסורות מסויימות של תרגום דרישות נוכחות (%): 100% שיטת ההוראה בקורס: סמינר - קריאה, דיון רשימת נושאים / תכנית הלימודים בקורס: מבוא לחקר התרגום גישות לתרגום בין-תרבותי גישות לתרגום באיסלאם גישות לתרגום בנצרות גישות לתרגום בהינדואיזם חומר חובה לקריאה: A.L Becker, Introduction and Silence Across Languages in Beyond Translation: Essays Towards a Modern Philology (Ann Arbor: University of Michigan Press, 1995) 1-20; 283-294.
