SPEAKER PROGRAM Program: Danish Holiday Celebration Month On Friday the Mighty Rotary Club of West Sacramento enjoyed an international buffet with various Danish foods (and some fairly familiar fare) to ring in the holidays. Club President, Heine Roikjer, ensured all palates were satisfied with a spread of smoked salmon, pickled herring, ham, pickled red cabbage, hard boiled eggs, potato balls and rich cheeses. The experience was both new and very fun, thank you for the fun way to ring in the holiday s Mr. Pres. The celebration wasn t complete without the absolutely generous celebrations hosted by our own Revenue Maker a.k.a. The Celebrator,. The joy and holiday spirit was clearly strong in the group with $1,860 in total celebrations on the day! The final highlight was the acknowledgement of the Club exceeding our previous record in donations for the Holiday Food Drive with a total of $2,662 raised. Holiday Food Drive - Setting a New Record, Every Year! Holiday Food Drive Sets New Record Rotarian Generosity Grows Again It only took three weeks of passing the hat to break our all-time record for giving in our annual Holiday Food Drive. Members donated $1,331, which will be matched by the club to bring the total to $2,662. This broke the previous record of $2,602 set last year. In fact we have established a new record each year for over 20 years. The funds will be given to the West Sacramento Christmas Basket Project the local non-profit that provides all the ingredients for a festive holiday meal to those in need in West Sacramento and Clarksburg. Special thanks to The Man With The Hat, Marty Garrozo, who surely should get some credits towards replacing that butt-ugly Red temporary name badge of his with one of our handsome and tasteful, permanent Blue badges. CORRECTION: CHIPS always endeavors to be accurate in our reporting and when that isn t possible, we admit it. Eventually. Take now, for instance. CHIPS cub reporter, Tim Carnahan, had incorrectly stated that our previous all-time record for giving to the Christmas Food Drive was something over $2,700, when in reality it was only $2602, set last year.
