Dear Parishioners, PASTORAL LEADER S NOTES What a great kick off we had to our Adult Faith Formation program last Monday! 52 people came to hear Fr. John Girotti give us an introduction to his Know Your Faith DVD series that we will be watching this coming year. One of the people who was present that evening told me that before Fr. John spoke she decided to sign up for a couple of sessions that looked interesting to her but after she heard Fr. John she went back to her sheet and signed up for ALL of the sessions! That sure spoke loudly to me of what an interesting and informative evening we had. Even if you weren t here on Monday you can still sign up to be a part of these Know Your Faith evenings. And you can sign up for any number of sessions. You don t have to attend all of them to be a part of this program. The important thing is to just COME and let s grow in faith together this year. Just fill out the sheet on the Adult Faith Formation brochure you received in the mail last week or pick one up at the entrance of church. Then put it in the collection basket or bring it to the church office. Remember we are providing babysitting this year so even if you have small children at home you can join us for these sessions. Just indicate on your sign up sheet that you need a babysitter along with the number and ages of your children. The first DVD session called The Existence of God and the Human Soul will be held on THURSDAY, October 12, at 6:00pm at St. Mary s, OMRO On Wednesday, September, 27 Bishop Robert Morneau will be here to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation at St. Mary s Winneconne for our 62 Confirmandi from Omro and Winneconne. This is a very large group because this will be the first year that our Juniors and Seniors will be receiving this sacrament together. This change was made last spring because of the shortage of bishops in our diocese. Bishop Banks retired last year and Bishop Morneau will be retiring in January. That leaves only Bishop Ricken to do most of the Confirmations in our diocese. As you think about this be sure to remember that the good news about this change is that we will still have Confirmation in our parish even though it will now only be every other year instead of every year. That is the reason we will be confirming two classes of students instead of only one from now on. This change also means changes in the preparation for our students but both Andy Krueger and Rose Unser, our Faith Formation Coordinators, have been working hard to make sure every student will be ready for Confirmation. Pray for our Confirmandi this week as they receive the sacrament of Confirmation and complete their initiation into the Catholic Church. Ask God to give them the wisdom and courage they need to profess and live their faith Boldly in Jesus Name. P.S. And remember Fr. John told us on Monday that he will be looking eight years younger in the DVD s. You don t want to miss checking that out for sure! Sr. Pam
