Volunteers interested in driving ideally will have experience driving large trucks. Saturday trips begin at St. Luke Catholic Church at 7001 Georgetown Pike (where our trucks are parked between trips) at 8:30 a.m. and usually are completed around 1:00 or 2:00 p.m. Persons interested in volunteering as either drivers or helpers should contact Stew Lingley, slingley@aol.com, with full name, home address, home and cell phone numbers, and, to volunteer as a driver, a brief description of your truck-driving experience. Volunteers to work when they are available. THE SHARE FOOD ROOM - has partnered with Giant in providing frozen meat to clients on a weekly basis. High school and older volunteers are needed to give 2 hours of their time once a month on a given Saturday are needed. Start at the Charles Wesley Church in Mclean on Dean St. where the Share truck will be waiting. A driver and a helper will drive the truck to Giant, pick up and load the frozen meat onto the truck, drive to Share to unload the meat and return the truck to Charles Wesley. The round trip takes no longer than 2 hours anytime on the Saturday between the hours of 9:30 am noon. Contact Peter Ferrante at pferrante4@gmail.com if interested. ALL CHURCH RETREAT, NOVEMBER 3-5, 2017 STEPPING OUT OF THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE A Church Retreat can be defined in the most simplest of terms as a time spent away from one's normal life for the purpose of reconnecting with God. We are excited to announce Lewinsville's first Church Wide Retreat, November 3-5 at the beautiful Pearlstone Retreat Center in Reisterstown, Maryland (west of Baltimore). The theme of the weekend will be "Stepping Out of the Hustle and Bustle and our speaker, Rev. J. Dana Trent, will address the theme and challenge us in ways we can better care for ourselves individually and as a community. Pearlstone's facilities are top notch with an emphasis on sustainability and intentional living. They embrace "farm to table" eating with food that comes from their own sustainable farm. The retreat center also boasts an exceptional amount of activities, including nature walks, tours of the farm, a petting zoo, s'mores around the campfire, and acres of land to explore. For an added bonus, we will be there during peak fall foliage season, surrounded by the stunning beauty of God s creation as we step out of our busy lives and intentionally slow down. Along with our speaker, the weekend will be filled with fun and games, free time, and fellowship activities geared to engage the youngest children to our oldest adults. All ages and stages (of life) welcome! Singles, families, older adults, youth, kids everyone is invited!
