Welcome to Worship at First Presbyterian Church Neenah, Wisconsin We are grateful for your presence and invite you to participate in the life and ministry of our congregation. If you are new to First Presbyterian, please identify yourself by wearing one of the red roses found in the hymnal rack. We ask all present today to sign and read the friendship pads as they are passed down each pew and returned to the center aisle. This is an opportunity for us to know and greet one another by name at the end of the service. We invite you to join us for coffee and conversation in the Church Parlor after the 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. services. The Coffee Hostess for today is Kathy Grinsel. Childcare (infants and toddlers through 2 years old) is available throughout Sunday morning (7:45 a.m. 10:45 a.m.) in the nursery located next to the Fellowship Hall. You are welcome to keep your infant or small child with you in church. If your infant or small child needs care or becomes uncomfortable during the service, you may leave and return as you wish. The audio portion of the 9:30 a.m. service can be heard in the Chapel where you and your child are also welcome. Children are invited to pick up a worship bag and a Bible as they enter the Chapel for the 8:00 a.m. or the Nave for the 9:30 a.m. worship service. Booster seats are also available for your child to use during worship. Please remember to return the worship bags to the stands, and the Bibles and the booster seats to the shelves when worship concludes. Worship Enrichment (ages 3 years old 1 st grade): Following the Children s Time during the 9:30 a.m. worship service, parents may, if they wish, take their children to Worship Enrichment, which is located in the preschool room, next to the library. Worship Enrichment offers time for children to learn stories, games, songs, and crafts based upon familiar Bible lessons. The Greeters are Deacon Carol Losse, who will be at the Doty Avenue entrance, and Elder Susan Morrissey, who will be in the Narthex. The Ushers at the 8:00 a.m. service are Liz and Steve Landig; and at the 9:30 a.m. service are Siv and Tim Galloway and David Struensee. We thank Elizabeth Mazurak, Margaret Burton, and Matt Schroeder for being our guest musicians for today s services. First Presbyterian has a hearing loop for hearing aid users equipped with T-coils. Brochures explaining this feature are available in the pews. Large print bulletins (with hymns included) are available. Please ask an usher. 1

June 28, 2015 Service for the Lord's Day Fifth Sunday after Pentecost 8:00 a.m. & 9:30 a.m. Prelude Highland Cathedral Charles Callahan Hymn S#2009 (Stanza 1) O God Beyond All Praising THAXTED Call to Worship Annika Galloway We come this morning to worship together. Different people, different lives, different histories. Yet we are all children of the same parent, created lovingly by the source of life. Different people, different lives, different histories. Yet we all have one teacher, one Lord, one faith, one baptism. Let us open ourselves to the word of God, which is at work in us. 2

* Hymn 298 (Stanzas 1, 2, 4, & 5) Lord, You Give the Great Commission ABBOT S LEIGH * Prayer of Confession Luke Johnson Providing God, we often forget that all that we have has come from you. We often forget that what we have is given to us as a gift to be given away. So often we think of it as our own to have and to use for ourselves. We confess that sometimes we walk by the person in need. Remind us that your gifts are to be shared. Open our hearts today to a more excellent way of sharing with and caring for others. Turn us away from selfish motives and ideas that we are somehow privileged and deserving more than others when really all of us are your children here to care for one another. (Moment for silent prayers of confession) * Congregational Response Hymn 695 Change My Heart, O God CHANGE MY HEART * Assurance of Pardon Paul Huxtable 3

Mission Trip Reflections SPY Youth Group Seniors Litany of Caring Julie Latreille (From Gifts from Latin America, Angie Abrego) We take responsibility for: those whose nightmares come in the daytime, who will eat anything, who have never seen a dentist, who aren t spoiled by anybody, who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep, who live and move, but have no being. We take responsibility for: children who want to be carried and for those who must, those we never give up on and for those who don t get a second chance. For those we smother and for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer it. 5

We take responsibility for: children who sneak popsicles before supper, who erase holes in math workbooks, who can never find their shoes. We take responsibility for: those who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire, who can t bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers, who never counted potatoes, who are born in places we wouldn t be caught dead, who never go to the circus, who live in an X- rated world. We take responsibility for: children who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions, who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money. We take responsibility for: those who never get dessert, who have no safe blanket to drag behind them, who watch their parents watch them die, who can t find any bread to steal, who don t have any rooms to clean up, whose pictures aren t on anybody s dresser, whose monsters are real. * Hymn 192 Lord, the Light of Your Love Is Shining SHINE, JESUS, SHINE Prayers of Intercession and Petition and the Lord s Prayer (debts & debtors) Matt Bourland (Following the words, Lord, in your mercy, the response is Hear our prayers. ) Sharing of Our Gifts and Offerings Jonathan Quale (8:00) Patrick Quale (9:30) (Please sign and pass the Fellowship Pads, noting other names as they are returned, and greet one another after the service.)
