Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Our Vision Statement "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18 19 (NKJ) It is the vision of Mt. Olive to be a church that is intentional in its efforts to identify and meet the needs of broken, hurt and oppressed people in the greater Glen Allen area through the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. From the Pastor's Desk By the grace of God we have made it to the month of March. March promises to be a wonderful month as we celebrate Women's Day, Palm Sunday and Resurrection Sunday. I encouraged you not to miss any of the exciting things taking place this month. Stay determined and remember that God is worthy to be praised. Love, Pastor Thompson Worship Services 8:00 AM & 11:00 AM Church School & New Members Class 9:30 AM MOBC @ Chicago Avenue Baptist Church 2331 Broad Rock Blvd., Richmond, VA Church Anniversary Pastor/Choir/Ushers/Congregation @ 3:00 PM The Triumphal Entry Next Sunday Hosanna! General Theme For This Quarter: BEYOND THE PRESENT TIME The study this quarter focuses on the theological theme of hope in both the Old and New Testament. In addition, students will consider the resurrection hope of believers, who wait for Christ s return and focus on the hope that Jesus inspired for those who are suffering. We hope that you will join us as we are focusing on: THIS WEEK S LESSON MOBC FAITH DEVELOPMENT!! The Lenten Season February 13 March 30, 2013 (The Pulpit attire is Purple) Lent: The forty days are taken from the days of temptations and fasting Jesus spent in the wilderness. The forty days extend from Ash Wednesday to Easter Eve and contains six Sundays. THE KINGDOM OF GOD GABRIEL S INTERPRETATION Daniel 8:19 26 UNIT #1 This Old Testament study considers the apocalyptic view of hope found in the book of Daniel. These lessons show the connection between the hope found in Daniel s prophecy and the Christian s resurrection hope. Hope points us toward the future. There were times when Daniel both knew and interpreted dreams, but when he did not understand his vision, Daniel received help from Gabriel to clarify its meaning. NEXT WEEK S LESSON: March 24, 2013 THE LORD S SUPPER Luke 22:14 30 Humans seek to exaggerate their own importance. Jesus said those who serve others will eat the bread and sip the wine at the table He has set for them in heaven. Sermon Highlights: Women s Day Celebration March 10, 2013 8:00 AM 11:00 AM Rev. Deborah Martin Min. Chandra Atkins Title: Enough is Enough I Surrender All Text: Mark 5:24 29 Romans 12:1 2 Main Idea: The text teaches when The key to living a godly life is to your enough is enough fully surrender to God, but you you must: must: Points: 1) Take internal inventory. 1) Know God. 2) Take action. 2) Fill your mind with Scripture. 3) Take no baggage. 3) Answer the Lord s call. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise to us is clear: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell someone else what Jesus has done in your life! 2
