Penguin Plunge fund raiser for Special Olympics 01-15-2017 Brothers - for the 3rd year, Council 10896 is taking the Plunge, the Penguin Plunge on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb 5) to raise funds for the Special Olympics. (No worries, we will be home in time to see the Patriots play later that day!) To date, these hardy souls have raised $3000 for the Special Olympics. I encourage you to join us and support us. To join us, follow the links below or contact me. To support us financially, the same. Also we would love to have a strong cheering section on Feb 5 at Hampton Beach as we take our "brisk" swim in the Atlantic Ocean! We are the ONLY Council in the State that takes the Plunge. Help us grow our numbers and our support for the New Hampshire Special Olympics. We want to demonstrate the best support during their signature event! KofC March For Life in Washington, D.C. 01-23-2017 In two weeks, on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, the national March for Life will be held in Washington, D.C. If your council-sponsored bus has any available space, offer the seats to fellow Knights and their families, parishioners, seminarians, clergy or students who might otherwise not be able to attend. If you are aware of parish groups that also have space, ask them to do the same, offering as a council to cover the expenses of these lastminute attendees. There is also still time to order 13 x 20 Choose Life signs (#9341, available at no charge in English, French or Spanish). To order, call 203-752-4403 or send an email to william.obrien@kofc.org. Finding their way to follow Jesus, saving the future for the Churches, Schools, Nursing Homes, Hospitals open and God filled. Those in discernment are also learning the disciplines of the different Orders, the making of diocesan priests. It is long hard road and we Knights have given them some respite ----- with our financial help in different forms, letters and cards sent to the seminarians and postulants, meeting with them when they are home. I'm so proud of our councils and assemblies for all you do for seminarians and postulants. Every time I have asked you have given with your hearts. One of the new recruits has said thank you for your help as money is tight at home and it means a lot to him. Please keep up the good works you do for the Church. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 2017 Pregnancy Centers Laundry Basket Drive 11-28-2016 LAUNDRY BASKET DRIVE FOR N.H. PREGNANCY CARE CENTERS Please bring your items to the January Quarterly. The essence of these centers is love. They are committed to offering free, non-judgmental help to women facing unplanned pregnancies. These agencies assist and support each woman to help her make a realistic plan for her future and the future of her unborn child. This is a state wide effort to assist the over 18 care centers in N.H. Your donation will save lives. Help women in crisis choose life!! Brothers, We have 2 more centers than last year. We really need councils to jump in and ask their parishes for the donations to make sure we can cover all 18. This program was a wonderful success. 135 baskets of goods by 26 councils. I m hoping 40 councils will participate this year and bring their goods to the January Quarterly. If your council will support a local center rather than donate to the state program please let Tim Kingsley or Ron DiStasio know so we can keep track of the total donations. By simply donating to your local council you are participating in the state program Thank you. Dear brother Knights, It s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving - St. Teresa of Calcutta The partnership between the Knights of Columbus and Special Olympics is one of our most enduring efforts. As you know, our councils make a real difference in the lives of countless Special Olympics athletes. But did you also know that reporting to the Supreme Council on those efforts can make even more of a difference? The Supreme Council annually makes a contribution to every state and provincial Special Olympics organization. Page 9 of 13

Each year, the amount donated to Special Olympics in your jurisdiction is determined by the amount of outreach to Special Olympics reported by your council and others in your jurisdiction. To help increase the funding in your state, simply submit the Partnership Profile Report with Special Olympics (#4584) by Jan. 31. Email completed forms to fraternalmission@kofc.org or fax them to 203-752-4108. You may also mail them to the Fraternal Mission Department at the address below. Thank you for your ongoing support of Special Olympics. Fraternally, José L. Jiménez, PSD Vice President, Fraternal Mission KofC Supreme Webinar How we are seen is How we are known 01-23-2017 Since the time of our Order's founding, Knights of Columbus councils have actively responded to the most pressing issues facing people in our parishes and communities. As soon as a man become a member of the Order, he accepts this fraternal mission. Unfortunately, many Knights don't understand the extent of this mission, while others simply feel ill-equipped to be an effective presence in their parish or community. As an officer, it is your responsibility to help your new Knights understand this mission and actively engage in it. Learn how to do so by participating in our next webinar, How We Are Seen Is How We Are Known, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The one-hour webinar will provide a detailed look at: Keeping First (Admission) Degree promises Attracting young members through service projects Spreading our mission through charitable service outreach programs All council and assembly officers, district deputies and state officers are encouraged to participate in this webinar. Dear brother Knight, Your action is needed to end taxpayer funded abortions! On Tuesday, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote to permanently ban all taxpayer funding of abortion. We urge you to contact your member of Congress to express your support for this important legislation. In 1976, our brother Knight Congressman Henry Hyde introduced a provision which prohibits any funds from Medicaid being used to pay for abortions. In the last 40 years, the Hyde Amendment has been renewed annually and has saved more than two million lives! The important legislation that needs your support will make the Hyde Amendment permanent and will apply it across the federal government, not just to Medicaid. This will save even more innocent lives! At our 134th Supreme Convention, we resolved to speak out to our elected representatives about the need to enact legislation protecting human life. I urge you to take that action today by contacting your member of Congress and telling them to vote YES on H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act. Fraternally, Carl A. LAUNDRY BASKET DRIVE FOR N.H.
