Est 15 JUNE 1965 FLORIDA STATE COUNCIL DIOCESE OF SAINT PETERSBURG REGION 4 DISTRICT 41 www.kofc5737.org MICHAEL R. KUHNLE GRAND KNIGHT 941-356-5358 mikehuhnle46@gmail.com OCTOBER 2018 2018-2019 COUNCIL GOALS MEMBERSHIP 9 0 INSURANCE 3 0 KNIGHT OF THE MONTH Jorge Mercado, PGK, FN FAMILY OF THE MONTH Jeffery and Angie Nichols Dear Worthy Brother Knights, We had a very good September and a good start to October. I want to thank all who participated in all the events that we had. I think we learned that by having a get together for pancakes and sausages works as the best way to recruit new members to our council. We received 5 commitments to join our council at the breakfast while the recruitment weekend produced none. The Columbiettes did very well also. Italian night did not work out so well. We did have 40 plus attendees but that is not enough to make the dinners successful. We have decided to table the Valentine's dinner and the St Patrick's dinner but have kept the Eastern European dinner. Steve Sznajder will have the tickets so let him know how many you want. He really wants this event to be successful. Steve has also set up our Tootsie Roll drive for November 17th. We will be manning stations at Sam's Club and Publix supermarket on Park Blvd. Let him know when you can help out. Bring the family along too. Also in November we will have the Memorial Mass for departed brothers and sisters on November 14 prior to our regular council meeting;. Our Chaplain, Fr Tom, has agreed officiate at the mass. Get there early, as it starts at 6:30. November 11th at 10:00 will be our Corporate Communion. We really need to show that we belong to a parish by attending as a group for all to see. Transfiguration parish has been very good to us since they became our only parish to serve. On the downside, we did not have a very good showing at Forty Days for Life. This event is part of the core values professed by the Knights of Columbus. Life begins at conception and we need to show that we believe this by being a part of the protest of abortion. We will have another chance at redemption at another time. There are quite a few events on our December calendar which are covered in the calendar elsewhere in the newsletter. Lastly, we will be having a social event on November 28th as it is the week after Thanksgiving. God has been good to us. Let's show Him how much we appreciate what He has given us in what we do. Vivat Jesus! Mike Kuhnle Grand Knight
FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT: Greeting ladies: Another month has flown by. We had our first "First degree" ceremony to welcome 2 new members to our organization. They are Patsy Martin and Joanne Porta. I look forward to working with these ladies and welcome their talents and ideas. The Knights had a pancake breakfast at Transfiguration and several ladies expressed interest. I will be contacting them to give them more information. Collection of items has begun for our Holiday Party to the Low income apartments in December.Spread the word, any donation appreciated. Please remember that at our next meeting, we will have a memorial mass before the meeting for deceased members of both the Columbiettes and Knights. Mass will be at 6:30pm.
