Detest what is evil, cling to what is good. Love one another with the affection of brothers. Anticipate each other in showing respect. Do not grow slack but be fervent in spirit; he whom you serve is the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient under trial, persevere in prayer. Look on the needs of the saints as your own; be generous in offering hospitality. Bless your persecutors, bless and do not curse them. Romans 12:6-14 what a great message from Saint Paul for knights and especially Grand Knights! Even so, right outside in our Home Gardens, our forebears have left us a reminder the health of our Catholic fraternal organization rests on the compass of virtue. The compass of virtue always points to Charity. As we stay true to this course, our council will thrive. With your help and God s grace, may our council enjoy a happy, exciting and fulfilling fraternal year. Your generosity, whether it was financially, or your time or your opinion (pro or con) were all invaluable to making the past two years very blessed for the council in so many ways. Please, as I will, continue to lend your support. I am sure our new Grand Knight and his officers, of which I am proudly serving as a trustee, will appreciate all the help he can get to make this council the best it can possibly be. I got far more out of the past two years than I could possibly give. See you around! Vivat Jesus! According to www.lifenews.com, the Five Best Arguments against Euthanasia are: 1) slippery slopes : Despite safeguards for euthanasia in the Netherlands and Belgium, there are data that safeguards are ineffective and violated Allowing voluntary euthanasia has led to nonvoluntary euthanasia. 2) lack of self-determination : Many expressions of a desire for death do not mean that a patient wants to euthanasia or assisted suicide. 3) inadequate palliative care : Holistic knowledge of palliative care is the most urgent ethical obligation of jurisdictions worldwide rather than legalizing PAS-E. 4) medical professionalism : Doctors assisting in PAS-E threaten the moral integrity of the medical profession. 5) difference between means and ends : The push for PAS-E confuses the problem of suffering with the life of the person: We must kill the pain and suffering, not the person with the pain and suffering.
