Mass Book On Monday October 3 at 9:30am the 2017 Mass Book opens. We have a wonderful problem in our Parish.we have more Mass intention requests than our Mass schedule can handle. After researching what other Parishes do regarding this situation and seeking the advice of those who serve on our Parish Council, I have come to what I hope is an acceptable decision. When you come to the Rectory to request a Mass intention you will be asked if you would be willing to share the date and time with one other intention. This would double our capacity to accept Mass intentions. If the person does not wish to share the date and time, then only one intention will be accepted. We will offer this option for one year to allow our Parishioners to adjust to the change. If we find that this solution is widely accepted, then we will accept double intentions for all Masses in 2018. It is my hope that this decision will be accepted by all. The past year has been very difficult because there were no Masses available for Parishioners who recently passed away. To have to refuse such requests only made the loss of those we love more difficult to bear. The Church offers the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the dead so that, since all the members of Christ s body are in communion with each other, the petition for spiritual help on behalf of our deceased brothers and sisters, to assist them in entering Heaven, may bring comfort and hope to the living as well. With that in mind, may we be a source of comfort and hope for each other by sharing the fruits of the Mass. Thank you for your understanding and willingness to cooperate with this solution. New Year s Eve Millbrook Our Parish has been offered the opportunity to be a presence at this celebration sponsored by the Millbrook Rotary. The family-oriented event takes place from 4:00 to 8:00pm at various locations: Lyall Church, Grace Church, Village Hall and Elm Drive Elementary School. St. Joseph-Immaculate Conception would be at Elm Drive where Arm of the Sea will be featured. Needed: a total of 6 volunteers (3 for each shift: 4-6 and 6-8). Responsibilities: helping maintain order as people enter and exit, providing information (rest rooms, etc.) One person at each session will be asked to be Venue Manager, thanking community and sponsors for support and pointing out emergency exits. Someone from the Rotary will be there at the beginning to explain procedure to volunteers. We can display our banner and have a table where snack food can be sold if we wish. For more information or to volunteer, call Betty Thurst at 677-8010. 40 Days for Life Campaign September 28-November 6 God has used the period of 40 days throughout history to bring about major transformation.
