News from the Heart Together we Grow & Rejoice Thursday, 16th June 2016 STAGE 2 - FAITH PAGE Sacraments of Initiation There are three Sacraments of Initiation Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Stage Two have been learning about the Sacrament of Baptism. Baptism is a community celebration and follows a pattern of actions, rituals and words. Baptism is part of the celebration of the Eucharist in which the Church community celebrates the central mystery of Christ s death and Resurrection. The students read Mk 1:9-11 and in pairs discussed the similarities and differences between the Baptism of Jesus and a Baptism they have witnessed. s were also asked to capture the symbols and rituals used in Baptism. The similarity of how Jesus was baptised and how people today are baptised is the use of water. Water is a symbol to cleanse. By Thanos Kingsley A difference between the Baptism of Jesus and a Baptism today is that people are baptised in the Church at the Baptismal Font and Jesus was baptised in the River Jordan. Jesus had a lot of people coming to see his Baptism and we invite our family and friends. By Rita Frim Jesus and newly baptised people today become part of a Christian family. We are the children of God. By Matthew Sakr A ritual of Baptism is putting on the White Garment putting on Christ to be in his likeness.
