It consists of a weekend of Christian programming and fellowship in which a team of volunteers and ordained clergy strive to rekindle an enthusiasm for serving Christ. The weekend is intended to strengthen the commitment of the youth to serve their Lord with renewed excitement and dedication once they return to their home church. Following the three-day event, the youth are invited to become intentional about their faith through local church participation, small group studies, and interpersonal sharing groups. These activities provide the fellowship and support for serving and giving love to your community and world. Chrysalis invites you to build upon your experience the rest of your life, to spread your wings every day. The local Chrysalis community is guided by a Board of Directors. This board consists of men and women who have experienced an Emmaus or a Chrysalis weekend and who want to ensure these opportunities exist for the youth of Northwest Ohio. The board selects the Lay Directors for each flight and provides support necessary for each team to prepare for and conduct their weekend flights. While some board positions require specialized skills with technology or accounting, the primary requirements for board members are a strong personal faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and a desire to see young adults grow in their walk with the Lord. If you are interested in attending a Chrysalis weekend or in serving on the Chrysalis Board, please email us at findlaychrysalis@yahoo.com. In Service to Our Lord, Dale Briggs Calling All Girls and Guys! The January Girls /Young Women s Flight and February Boys /Young Men s Chrysalis Flight still have openings for caterpillars. The flights are scheduled for January 23 25, 2009 and February 20 22, 2009. Do you have a relative or friend who would really benefit from a weekend? Remember the fun you had and the bonds you formed on your flight? Wouldn t you like to share those with someone you care about? When you have someone in mind, contact the Girls Registrar, Stephanie Stull, at stephaniestull@hotmail.com or the Boys Registrar, Paul Iles, at aisles4@sbcglobal.net or visit the website for more information. This year the registration fee is $75.00 and it includes a Chrysalis T-Shirt. The weekend is fast approaching. Don t let someone you love miss out! Sponsor, sponsor, sponsor!!!

Page 2 of 2 P.O.P = Girl s Flight #31 July 2008 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) What a blessing it was to be a part of our girl s flight this past July. As Lay Director, I was privileged to welcome 14 new butterflies into our community. Parkview Church was gracious enough to host our flight as St Andrews was still in the final stages of recovering from the floods of 2007. God blessed us with a wonderful building, wonderful girls, wonderful weather, wonderful servant hearted volunteers and incredible promise. Friday morning of the flight Scott Bouldrey, one of our Spiritual Directors, called me outside to view an awesome sight. I later brought all the butterflies and team out to see it as well. There, outside the back of the church building, were three or four large bushes. Each of those bushes was covered with not just one or two but literally hundreds of caterpillars in the final stages of weaving their cocoons, each one working so hard to finish their Chrysalis. It was an overwhelming example of God speaking to not just our weekend but to our Chrysalis community as a whole. As some of you may remember, the floods put off a number of flights. In fact we went almost two full years with no flights at all. After two long years God had blessed us with this group of girls and as I stood with the hundreds of chrysalises in front of me, I shared with everyone what God had placed on my heart. If we are faithful with the task God had placed before us, if we are willing to be his hands and feet, to share his message of Love, he will bless not just this group of girls, but our whole community. God showed me during girl s flight #31 that he has a promise for us, a promise to bless us with Hundreds of Chrysalis weekends. How Awesome is our God! As we look to the future of our Chrysalis community I hope you will carry the thought of that promise in your heart, just as all of us from flight #31 do. If you have never served on a flight but would like to, stop by a gathering and fill out a volunteer sheet. Go on line and drop a note to any board member, let us know you want to be a part of God s promise. The next flight is in January. What a perfect time to become a piece of the promise. The kitchen, Candlelight service, the agape room, and the prayer vigil are all excellent places to get involved. There are butterflies out there just waiting for someone to sponsor them, even if they don t know it yet. BE THAT SOMEONE! Girl s flight #31 was just about as perfect as a Lay Director could pray for. I am forever grateful to everyone who was a part of it. To the team, they have my heart forever. To the kitchen, wow is all I can say. YOU ROCK! To all the fine friends who chipped in and helped us move to Parkview and back again, thanks for all the sweat equity you put into the summer flights. And last: To the butterflies, my prayers are with you always. I look forward to seeing all of you at the next Candlelight and having a little time to catch up with you. Fly with Christ and be a P.O.P. (piece of the promise) I remain his humble servant Beth Yoder Boy s Flight #31 July 2008 The tone for this weekend started out well and with most of the flaws worked out the weekend before. The girls had worked out some major wrinkles! We had several things that were not as they have been in the past (at St Andrews) but we easily used the different facility as our reason for being different. All things considered, I know that the weekends are sometimes hard to evaluate. I think that with all of the challenges we had to overcome (or ones that we saw God help us to overcome) the barometer for the flight was the young men s testimony on Sunday. We as members of the team sometimes think that the weekend is not going well because it is not like others we have been on. It is always awesome to me to see God get his work done in spite of us. Out of the nine young men on this flight, eight of them stood up and gave testimony to the fact that this was the greatest experience that they had ever experienced. And the ninth young man came up to me on Sunday after closing and expressed his apologies for not speaking; he wanted to but just could not find the courage. Praise be to God for His ability to use broken people for His kingdom work! LD Chuck Chiow

Mealtime and Bedtime Agape Return If you would like your extra agape back that your share group has made, please leave some kind of contact information with your agape so it can get back to you. Nicole Whetstone, Agape Chair (misscoe@hotmail.com or (419) 307-0718) would like to recycle the agape your group made so it doesn t get lost or lay in storage to collect over time. As a reminder, when addressing agape to the bugs for the weekend, put the first and last name of the bug or team member on the envelope. This way we can assure fast and accurate delivery of your agape letter to the right person at the right time. Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless!! Keep that agape flowing! Page 4 of 4 72-Hour Prayer Vigil The Chrysalis Prayer Vigil begins on Friday morning of each flight and ends at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening. We are in need of many prayers and time slots need to be filled. Now is the time to sign-up for the 72 hour prayer vigil. We are in desperate need of filling the prayer vigils for the January and February flights so that those attend the flights will be able to see who is praying for them around the clock while they are on their flight. If the vigils are not filled, they CANNOT be posted! Please prayerfully consider signing up on these vigils to show your love and support to the bugs. If you are feeling led to pray for these young men and women, you can sign up on the Findlay Chrysalis website under Prayer Vigil or email Nicole Whetstone, Agape Chair, at misscoe@hotmail.com. Feel free to sign up for more than one hour time slot. Be sure to check the website often to see the prayer vigil fill up! Mealtime and Bedtime Agape We are always in need of agape for both mealtime and bedtime. All the wonderful pieces you received on your weekend were made and donated by people just like you. Round up some friends and get creative! Can t think of what to do? Go through your agape for ideas. You ll be reminded of God s love for you and you ll be inspired for something original for you to donate! It doesn t have to be fancy it just has to be from the heart. We need 45 pieces for mealtime and 45 pieces for bedtime for each weekend. You can bring your agape to the kitchen during the weekends and they ll help you get it to where it needs to go or take to the Agape room on the 3 rd floor. Prayer Vigil Ideas Need some ideas on what to pray for and how? The following is a list that will help you while you are praying for the bugs and team during their flights: Caterpillars: Each caterpillar by name Spiritual protection Plenty of agape of all Healing, give up burdens Good health and safety Develop a vibrant relationship with Christ Protection for their family Finish walk as joyful, enthusiastic believer To participate in singing and learning Live-In Team: Energy, diplomacy, servant s heart Wisdom, peace, protection Protection for families and themselves Speaker: strength, no fear Spirit of enthusiasm, joy, love, humility Strengthened relationship with Christ Comfort in leading Clergy: wisdom, discernment Song Leaders: Protection of voices You can pray anywhere. Third, work with such great individuals that we have in this ministry. And above all, to be in the work of the LORD. Any words of wisdom? I am sure that each of us that has the opportunity to attend a weekend as either a participant or team member has experience something that is just hard to explain. Have we provided such an opportunity to another individual? And another? And another? Database Updates Have you moved since your flight? Has your name changed? Do you have a new phone number? Have you changed from your college email address? Did you forget to fill out the volunteer sheet in your Sunday packet on the weekend? Make sure that your information is up to date in our database.
