Jim Mueller Hannah Coulter (niece of Kathy Miller) Joseph Ray Miller (son of Dee Taylor) Elaine Laird Nell Andrews Ernie Goodwin The Mother of Jack Bradley Hello First family! I hope this article finds you doing well. I am thrilled about the prospects for this new year. I'm excited about starting a sermon series that will take us through the wonderful New Testament book of James. Make sure you're here as we experience the Lord shaping us and encouraging us through His Word. Make sure you invite many to come worship with us and to learn from James. We will be amazed anew and afresh at how relevant the Bible is for our lives. Not only do I want you here to study James in corporate worship. I encourage you to fully invest in a Bible study class and in our First Essentials studies on our campus as you study the Bible with a smaller group. If you have questions about how to plug into a Bible study or where to start, just call the church office. Also, don't forget to consistently read the Bible personally. I recommend that you use a Bible reading plan that will systematically lead you through all 66 books. You can make it a goal to read through the Bible in one year but if that seems too daunting, divide the plan up and read through the Bible over a two-year span. I've been using the Discipleship Journal Bible Reading Plan for years now and I love it. If you Google "bible reading plans" you will find many different options. Many of the Bible apps have Bible reading plans so you can use your phone or tablet. Whatever works best for you! The main thing is that we are taking time consistently to allow the Lord to speak to us from His Word. I'm expectantly asking the Lord to move in a mighty way in our individual lives, in our families, and in our church. In 2019 may our lives be filled with the Spirit, our knees worn from praying, our minds renewed by the Word of God, our hearts full of love, our hands busy with service, our lips ready to share Good News, and our eyes fixed on Jesus! I count it a great privilege to serve as your pastor. Claire and I love you all! Soli Deo Gloria, Pastor Wade SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE In as much as you have done it to the least of these, you have done unto me. (Matthew 25:40) Christmas morning our class members and all other 82 residents of the FWB Developmental Center will open the #1 gift on their list. Thanks to employees of the Okaloosa County Tax Office. Santa s wish list was granted by Keri and John Holguin s Sharing the opportunity with co-workers. Lots of work, but much more Christmas joy! Pastor Wade and Claire visited with us on Sunday, December 16. They were expecting to observe, but instantly found themselves personally meeting each class member individually and leading our opening prayer. We also celebrated the birthdays of Teresa, Timmie and Mr. Tim. On Wednesday, December 19, all of us who work in the Special Education Bible Study class were guests at the Developmental Center s Christmas Dinner. Mr. Tim, with his guitar, lead the residents, staff and guests in a Christmas music sing-a-long. (You can t imagine just how excited our class members were to have us as their guests!) We ask God to Bless You, Each and All with a Happy New Year! Rachel Godwin
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EACH YOU! The Music Ministry has experienced some joyous and challenging times during 2018. As matter of fact, our entire church has, but with God s sufficient grace and protection, I submit we have really been blessed. It would take many pages to write about all of them. LOOKING BACK - God s faithful servant and Pastor of First Baptist Church, Dr. Howard Gates, retired at the end of January, following a 30 plus year tenure. I would imagine he could write many pages regarding his experiences as Pastor. LOOKING FORWARD - The Lord led Dr. Wade Humphries to accept the calling as our new Pastor back in August. We are already experiencing a new vision for our church through the leadership of Pastor Wade. I am all in, and I pray each of you will simply say daily, Lord, here am I, as we are all challenged to get out of comfort zones and adhere to Kingdom building. THE MUSIC MINISTRY has been a blessing to lead. The pictures surrounding this article are just an example of events involving preschool through adult. I hope you will consider either getting involved or becoming more involved in 2019. LOOKING FORWARD TO PRESSING FORWARD- JEFF
