CHARITY in ACTION Vivat Jesus I would like everyone to know what is expected from the council when a member passes away. The family must request the council to help say the Rosary at the viewing. We in turn will get members there to say the Rosary and give the family a letter of condolence and a Crucifix as a remembrance of the Brother Knight. This is what is done for third degree members. Forth degree members are entitled to all of the above plus a Casket watch by the color corps and a chalice/ patent are donated to a priest of the family s choosing. Again let me reiterate that the family must request our presence at the funeral. We do not do it automatically. In July I attended a Diocesan Meeting. The State Council had several good ideas for projects we can do to help the churches and get our presence out there. I will be going over these ideas at the meeting. I will be looking for help in finding leaders for these projects. They are simple and will not involve a lot of time. The State is pushing the One member per council per month it sounds simple but we need to do this. If you look around at our members we all have either snow on the roof or missing shingles. Who is going to replace me when I go? Ask you friend, son, son in law, neighbor about joining the K of C. The number one reason a man does not join us is no one asked him! Ask! Jim Pawlik Grand Knight We will be working the Slovak Festival August 23,24 & 25 at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church selling 50/50 tickets. We ask that each Brother come out and Volunteer to sell tickets. There will be a signup sheet at the meeting. Rick Yamin is the chairman and he can be reached by email rickyamin314@hotmail.com Notice We are looking for persons to fill vacancies in the Council, please step forward and volunteer. If you want to know more about the positions available before you make the commitment contact the Grand Knight
Chancellors Thoughts July~Mike Lisiecki our immediate past Grand Knight who has worked very hard to make our council Great and will continue to be involved with the building corporation in the capacity as Treasurer. COUNCIL PICNIC AT RAINTREE PARK IN TROY. 3775 JOHN R RD. AUGUST 16, 2013 FROM 5-10 Dear Brother Knights, Vivat Jesus, On the Knights of Columbus webpage under History, I read - In 1988 Mother Teresa visits the Supreme Council Office. The order agrees to print copies of her constitution, prayer cards and other religious items, a practice that continues to this day. A familiar quote of hers is this: If we pray, we will believe. If we believe, we will love. If we love, we will serve. During our recent officers meeting, we discussed our participation in the rosary held at 6:30p.m. in the church before our monthly meeting. In its truest sense, all the works we do as brother Knights flow from our dependence on the Lord and the Holy Spirit s gift of discernment that we ask for in prayer. Perhaps this is how we should approach the invitation to pray the rosary together as Catholic men humbly asking Our Lord for His help with all the charitable activities that we are involved in. We could specifically include in the rosary intentions, guidance from the Lord for our council s charitable activities, fund raising, and solicitation of new members. Please consider to pledge coming to the 6:30p.m. rosary (20 minutes) one time per month. Bring all the intentions of your loved ones (living and deceased) with you. Perhaps many are in need of our prayers. Also, Knights praying together in church could be good opportunity to possibly influence the interest and curiosity of any men attending the 7:00p.m. Holy Mass. Jim Wisniewski

MEMBERSHIP For any questions about membership contact Tom Starynchak he has the form 100 to sign up future Brother Knights. Ask Tom for extra forms so that you can carry it with you, don t known when the occasion would arise that someone asks you How can I become a Knight.
Corporate Communion Brother Knights and family members, You and your families are cordially invited to attend the next "Corporate Communion" on Sunday OCTOBER 6TH, 2013 at the 9:30 AM Mass at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic church. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to mass in the vestibule as we will be processing in to church. You might ask "What is a Corporate Communion"? It s just a Knights expression coined by Supreme for Knights and their families sitting and praying together in Church at Mass. Four times per year, the council members and their families attend Mass as a corporate body to worship together. This is a great witness for any men, married or single, who may be interested in the Knights. So it would be wonderful to see you there. There will also be reserved seating for Knights and their families. The 4 th degree Color Corp will be attending. We are an active Council with several new members, so use this time to get to know some of your brother Knights and families. Look forward to seeing you!! Vivat Jesus!! Jim Wisniewski
