INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at 732-257-7722. MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES Dear Brothers and Sisters, The Summer has gone by and with the arrival of Labor Day the new year begins for our parish community. This Wednesday, September 6 th, we are welcoming 375 students to our excellent Catholic School. Summer projects have been completed: the French Drain in front of the main doors of the Church, a new beautiful Gym floor has been installed in the Kelly Gym, and new air conditioning units have been installed in the kindergarten rooms and the technology center. Plans have been finalized for the Ariella Hopkins Pre-K & Kindergarten playground and the installation date will be announced once the construction is completed. Truly we are blessed community and I thank Deacon Jack Kenny, Deacon John Broehl, and Joe Monteleone for overseeing all these projects. May the Lord continue to bless the work of our hands. Message from the Bishop s Office KNIGHTS KORNER Dear Brothers, It was nearly five years ago, in October 2012, that Superstorm Sandy hit parts of our diocese and many of our people went through something of what is now being experienced by the residents of eastern and southern Texas. In scope and level of devasta on, Hurricane Harvey is being described as a natural disaster beyond anything our na on has ever experienced. In the a ermath of Sandy, our people were able to begin to rebuild their homes and their very lives through the support of parishes and dioceses throughout the United States. Hurricane Harvey presents us with the opportunity to show to the grieving and displaced persons in Texas the same compassion that was so generously shown to us. In addi on to encouraging your parishioners to pray for those who are suffering from this storm, I also encourage you to announce this weekend and next a collec on for the vic ms of Hurricane Harvey to be taken up the weekend of September 16-17 or another weekend more convenient for your parish schedule. This collec on is op onal, but I imagine that you have also had many people ask about how they may help. Please send the proceeds of your collec on to the diocesan Office of Finance, which will forward monies collected to the dioceses in need. Thank you in advance for your concern for our brothers and sisters in great need. Yours in Christ, Most Reverend James F. Checchio, JCD, MBA Bishop of Metuchen KNIGHTS COUNCIL 11873 MEMBERSHIP INFOR- MATION Knights Council meetings are held the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7:30pm. On Epiphany Sunday in January 2017, the Children's Choir visited the residents of the Golden Living Center in Old Bridge. They led a Christmas Carol sing along with the residents who eagerly anticipated their annual visit. In March, ten members of the Children's Choir participated in a Children's Choir Festival in Abington, PA (near Philadelphia). The children, who came from several Pennsylvania and New Jersey churches, were directed by Dr. Mark Patterson. Mark Patterson is a choir director and composer. Some of his pieces have been heard at St. Bartholomew's. He composed a new piece for the festival which was an exciting experience for the participants. Children's Choir rehearsals will begin on September 13th. Check next week's bulletin for more details!
