Offertory Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There s light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free! Through death into life everlasting He passed, and we follow Him there; O er us sin no more hath dominion For more than conq rors we are! Chorus Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face; And the troubles of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace. His Word shall not fail you He promised; Believe Him, and all will be well: Then go to a world that is dying, His perfect salvation to tell! Helen H. Lemmel Public Domain 8

Gathering Song The Spirit of the Lord Praise the Spirit of the Lord our God For our minds He has illumined, Shines the glory of a risen Christ On our blood-stained guilt and ruin. Worldly wisdom cannot see Through the humble mystery All prepared for the hearts whom He- Is now remaking-holy. Praise the Spirit of the Lord our God, Of the Father s love assures us, Warmly wills our loving lives to obey His guiding law set for us. Never more in misery- Chained to fear and slavery; All is Christ, and in Him free Are the children of His vict ry. Praise the Spirit of the Lord our God For the fruit He reaps within us, Raising into a maturity The life He now gives in us; All that Christ be glorified, And the lost be purified, That the work should be applied Of the One who rose victorious. Hymn of Response Love Divine, All Loves Excelling Love divine, all loves excelling, Joy of heav n, to earth come down; Fix in us Thy humble dwelling, All Thy faithful mercies crown. Jesus, Thou art all compassion, Pure, unbounded love Thou art; Visit us with Thy salvation, Enter ev ry trembling heart. Breathe, O breath Thy loving Spirit Into ev ry troubled breast! Let us all in Thee inherit, Let us find that promised rest. Take away our bent to sinning, Alpha and Omega be; End of faith, as its beginning, Set our hearts at liberty. Come, almighty to deliver, Let us all Thy life receive; Suddenly return, and never, Nevermore Thy temples leave. Thee we would be always blessing, Serve Thee as Thy hosts above, Pray and praise Thee without ceasing, Glory in Thy perfect love. Finish then Thy new creation, Pure and spotless let us be; Let us see Thy great salvation Perfectly restored in Thee: Changed from glory into glory, Till in heav n we take our place, Till we cast our crowns before Thee, Lost in wonder, love and praise! Text by Charles Wesley, Music by John Zundel CCLI# 56194 11

Sending Hymn Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus Come, Thou long expected Jesus Born to set Thy people free; From our fears and sins release us, Let us find our rest in Thee. Israel s strength and consolation, Hope of all the earth Thou art; Dear desire of every nation, Joy of every longing heart. Joy to those who long to see Thee, Dayspring from on high, appear: Come, Thou promised Rod of Jesse, Of Thy birth we long to hear! O er the hills the angels singing news, glad tidings of a birth: Go to Him, your praises bringing; Christ the Lord has come to earth. Come to earth to taste our sadness, He whose glories knew no end; By His life He brings us gladness, Our Redeemer, Shepherd, Friend. Leaving riches without number, Born within a cattle stall; This the everlasting wonder: Christ was born the Lord of all. Born Thy people to deliver, Born a child and yet a King, Born to reign in us forever, Now Thy gracious kingdom bring. By Thine own eternal Spirit Rule in all our hearts alone; By Thine all sufficient merit, Raise us to Thy glorious throne. Charles Wesley 1744; Rowland H. Prichard 1830, HYFRYDOL 13
Reflection Preparation Reflection: Luke 2:22-40 This Week: Quote God brings an amazing message to those who have ears to hear his words and eyes to see his kingdom: the baby Jesus is the Savior. He does not save as a baby, however, but as an adult, who will live a sinless life, die on a cross, and rise to live again. (Robert A, Peterson, Salvation Accomplished by the Son, pg. 30) Isaiah 42:1-8 A light for the nations Acts 4:10-12 Salvation in no one else Psalm 130:5-7 With him is plentiful redemption Titus 2:11-14 Waiting for our blessed hope Prayer: Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of you incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. (From the Book of Common Prayer) In Preparation for Sunday: Luke 2:41-52 14 The Pray for Me Campaign: This week we are praying for Love for our youth; the love of God through the Holy Spirit is what transforms us; pray that our youth will know the breadth, length, height, and depth of love from God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son.
