Inspiring Worship all Week A daily devotional guide for this week based on next Sunday s readings for worship that lead us to Sunday, April 22nd Key Verse: I am the good shepherd. John 10: 11 Readings: *Sunday readings in bold Monday: Acts 4:5-12 Tuesday: 1 Peter 5:1-4 Wednesday: John 10:1-10 Thursday: Psalm 23 Friday: 1 John 3:16-24 Saturday: John 10:11-18 Apply: The readings for this fourth Sunday of Easter are rich in their imagery, and at the center is the image of the Good Shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep. Five times in eight short verses Jesus mentions laying down his life for the sake of the sheep. Find and read aloud all five times this is mentioned. Laying down one s life for another might take many forms, but it at least means this: extending help, as much as you are able, when another is in need. God calls us to also be shepherds of others. Who might you be able to do this for this week? If you don t know that now, be on the lookout this week for that person or persons the Holy Spirit may put in your path. Prayer: O Lord, you are my shepherd, and I shall not want anything. You take care of all my needs. You help me to rest and give me your peace. For that I am grateful. Thank you for leading me and You help me see that death is only a shadow and there is nothing to fear. Help me to share this good news with others. It is so good to know that I will dwell in your house forever and ever. Amen.
