Beloved, As we continue this sermon series, God Always Answers and we change the Pastor s Pen into congregational testimonies, I pray for two things: 1) you are encouraged by our testimonies and 2) you come to realize the diversity in the meaning of answers. The following is the testimony of Juanita Randolph: Many years ago, I entered the hospital for a simple surgery, I thought. I learned no surgery is simple. My supposedly uncomplicated surgery extended from one surgery to two surgeries and some other procedures. Due to various complications, my hospital stay was seven weeks instead of one week. My family, the Bethany family and friends prayed for my recovery. At times, I know I was not the most cooperative patient, and my faith and prayers sometimes wavered. With each step forward, there seemed to have been another setback. I felt my recovery was getting further and further in the distance. I had entered the hospital weighing 130 pounds, but when I exited the hospital I was weighing a little over 100 pounds. I was 5 feet 9 inches. You can imagine how I looked; skin and bones. Even upon my release from the hospital, the doctors weren t sure I would live or die. To me, it was a slow recovery. However, through God s grace, I returned to work three months after my release from the hospital weighing almost 120 pounds. God answers the prayers of others, as well as, your prayers even when your faith sometimes wavers... J. Randolph As we move past Thanksgiving, and head towards Christmas, this Sunday marks the beginning of the season Advent. It is a season, by definition and tradition is filled with expectations. So let us stay steadfast, excited and expectant about the changes in the church worship services (no 7:45 am) and all the prayers that God will still answer. (Lacey) This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us whatever we ask we know that we have what we asked of him. (1 st John 5:14-15) Reflection: Sometimes God s response is different than what you expect, but it is ALWAYS the best answer. With a Shepherd s Love, Pastor Lacey

SERMON SERIES GOD ALWAYS ANSWERS Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. ~ Jeremiah 33:3 NOVEMBER 27 PRAYERS OF RESTORATION I SAMUEL 1:9-17 DECEMBER 4 PRAYERS OF LOVE JOHN 3:16-21 DECEMBER 11 PRAYERS OF AFFIRMATION LUKE 1:5-13 DECEMBER 18 PRAYERS OF CELEBRATION LUKE 1:46-55 DECEMBER 25 PRAYERS OF TRANSFORMATION MATTHEW 2:1-12 MORNING SCRIPTURE ~ JEREMIAH 30:12-17 (NIV) 12 This is what the LORD says: Your wound is incurable, your injury beyond healing. 13 There is no one to plead your cause, no remedy for your sore, no healing for you. 14 All your allies have forgotten you; they care nothing for you. I have struck you as an enemy would and punished you as would the cruel, because your guilt is so great and your sins so many. 15 Why do you cry out over your wound, your pain that has no cure? Because of your great guilt and many sins I have done these things to you. 16 But all who devour you will be devoured; all your enemies will go into exile. Those who plunder you will be plundered; all who make spoil of you I will despoil. 17 But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the LORD, because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares. SERMONIC SCRIPTURE ~ I SAMUEL 1:9-17 (NIV) 9 Once when they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh, Hannah stood up. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his chair by the doorpost of the LORD s house. 10 In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly. 11 And she made a vow, saying, LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head. 12 As she kept on praying to the LORD, Eli observed her mouth. 13 Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk 14 and said to her, How long are you going to stay drunk? Put away your wine. 15 Not so, my lord, Hannah replied, I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the LORD. 16 Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief. 17 Eli answered, Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.
