EXPERIENCE GOD S MERCY God never tires of forgiving us. ~ Pope Francis Join us on Wednesday evening, February 28 th for the annual diocesan-wide Evening of Confession. All churches in the diocese will have confessors available from 5:00-8:00pm. Experience God s loving mercy. This is an excellent Lenten practice as we prepare for Easter. This is the Second Sunday of Lent and we welcome Father Scott Goodfellow as the homilist at our weekend Masses. Father Goodfellow will invite our participation at this year s Parish Lenten Retreat. The Retreat presentations will be this Sunday at 7:00pm and on Monday and Tuesday at 7:30pm (immediately following the 7:30pm Mass). The theme of this year s Retreat is Get More, Be More. All three evening presentations will be in our church. Father Goodfellow was ordained in 2014 (a classmate of Father Ryan s). Since ordination, he has served as the parochial vicar at Sts Robert and William Parish in Euclid. Father Goodfellow also served for a year here at St Charles during his seminary days. We welcome him back. So please plan on attending this week s Parish Lenten Retreat on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings. This Wednesday, February 28, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, confessions will be heard in every Catholic church in the Diocese of Cleveland. This evening of Sacramental Reconciliation has been offered for the last several years on Wednesday of the Second Week of Lent. Four priests will be available at St Charles for confessions. And, yes, there will be a 7:00pm daily Mass on Wednesday in church, as usual. In addition, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered at St Charles during Lent from 6:15 until 6:50pm, every evening, on Monday through Friday. You will receive a handout in church today: Method of Confession with an Examination of Conscience. Use it; then keep it in your wallet/purse. It might save your soul! St Charles PTU invites you to their Fish Fry #3 this Friday from 4:00 till 7:00pm in the Corrigan Gym. It s an extensive menu, with children s selections, and offering excellent desserts, too. And the price is right. See you Friday for supper! Father Ryan, Deacon Dan, and a team of St Charles parishioners along with those interested in joining the Catholic Faith have been involved with our Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) since September. Our RCIA candidates are looking forward to receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Holy Saturday Easter Vigil Service. How about those of you who were baptized Catholic and have received First Communion, but for various reasons were not confirmed? If you, a family member or a friend, are an adult who has not been confirmed, St Charles is offering an Adult Confirmation Class on Two Sundays, April 8 and 15, from 1:00 till 2:00pm. No tests, no quizzes, just a modern presentation of our understanding of Confirmation. Our friendly and energetic pastoral minister/adult Faith Coordinator, Brian Pelcin, will direct the two Sunday sessions and prepare you for Confirmation with Bishop Nelson Perez, scheduled for Sunday, April 29, at 2:30pm. Give the Parish Office a call to pre-register for the two Sunday Adult Confirmation sessions (440-884-3030). Stop after the 8:00am and 10:00am Masses next Sunday, March 4, in the Lower Parish Hall, for Donut Sunday, sponsored by our Parish Council. A quote from Pope Francis: How much better our lives would be if we would more frequently use the words Thank You, I Forgive You, and I Am Sorry.
