From Fr. Liguori, From the Catechism of the Catholic Church Freedom is the power to act or not to act. Each person is responsible for their own actions. Our freedom is made perfect when our actions are directed to God. (CCC# 1740) Prayer for parents for priestly and religious vocations O God, grant that at least one of our sons may become a priest or religious brother, and one of our daughters a religious sister. We ourselves want to live as good Christians, and to guide our children always to do what is right, so that we may receive the grace, O God, to be aloowed to give Thee a holy priest, brother, or sister! Amen, (conclude with an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be.) Next week is the last Sunday of the month. 7 th graders, wearing their uniforms, will be participating at the 10:00 Mass. Giving oportunity: For the 450 th Anniversary of St. Augustine, the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine was renovated. Each parish in the diocese was asked to make a pledge. We have one more payment left from our $12,000. pledge; $2,000 due in October. Religious Ed classes start today, as well as the Rite of Christian Initiation for those never baptized, or for those baptized in another faith who wish to become Catholic. Both were cancelled last Sunday because of hurricane Irma Planned Parenthood Condemns Itself Planned Parenthood s latest annual report contains more evidence for ending the organization s federal funding. By its own admission Planned Parenthood abortionists killed over 328,000 babies last year. It performs more abortions than breast exams, more abortions than pap tests, and more abortions than well woman exams. Undercover videos have caught Planned Parenthood officials gloating over the atrocities committed in their clinics on a daily basis. These are heinous crimes against humanity. Yet Planned Parenthood still received $554 million in public funds last year. That s almost $1,700 per dead child! There s no reason why tax-payers should be coerced into sending even one dollar to this killing machine. Congress needs to stop subsidizing Planned Parenthood and it needs to do it now! Which is exactly what you and Priests for Life are working hard to do! And we won t stop until we ve brought an end to all federal, state and local taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood. 2
