Dear parish family, 28 Sunday WE had a fantastic bazaar last week! We were so blessed with a very nice weather but most of all blessed with your love and support. We had a good turnout and we had a great day under the fall sun. Thank you all for coming out last Sunday to participate and support our parish family bazaar. It was a great success! At the point of this writing, we don t have yet the final figure but we got very good indications that we did very well. (Please refer to initial reports in the other page of this bulletin). Thank you so much all volunteers, parish workers, (my apology not to mention all - so many of them to name), indeed a concerted effort of a lot of parishioners, which made the bazaar possible. Our deep gratitude to all the donors (see list on other page), those who pitched in to cover the raffle prizes; and several other monetary gift donors, their donations as always made the difference for the Bazaar and thanks to the booth sponsors. Our special thanks to the Bazaar Chairman, Karl Paulissen, Al-Pena (co chair) and Committee, especially Peggy & Cheryl, parish staff, for running the Bazaar efficiently and with great success. Great job! CONGRATULATIONS to all raffle winners (see in other page). And Congratulation to the BIGGEST WINNER, St. Mary s parish church we had family outdoor fun, and the church got its much needed fund. So let s congratulate ourselves! This Sunday's gospel tells us about the young man who goes away sad at the prospect of giving away his many possessions, which leads us to a reflection on how difficult it is to enter God's kingdom when one's heart is taken up with other kinds of possessions. Apparently the young man tried to be "good" by avoiding the wrong things but seeming he cannot go further of doing good for others. He was seeking salvation yet unwilling to let go of something that enslaved him and instead of allowing himself to be free to follow the Lord closely. This gives us a clear understanding of how a Christian life, well-lived, looks very different than society s version of a well-lived life, when our society judges by what we possess. At the end of our life, when all the tinseled things are gone, how well have we lived? Obviously we are not told to literally "sell everything we have and give it to the poor", but clearly we are challenged to use the gifts we have not only for ourselves, but for the good of others and ultimately for the greater glory of God. We did a little bit of it, like the past Sunday, when we give time, talent and treasures to support our church. Blessings to all and have a good week! Fr. Padre Tony

Dead Man Walking: The Journey Continues St. Paul the Apostle Monday, Oct. 12th @ 7pm In 1981, Prejean began her now famous prison ministry and soon began corresponding with Patrick Sonnier, an Angola Stat Prison inmate incarcerated for murdering two teens. She eventually became his spiritual advisor and witnessed his execution in 1984. She wrote about her experience in, Dead Man Walking, which was nom inated for a Pulitzer Prize and spent 31 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. The book was eventually made into a movie starring Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Prejean. Her experience and observations have led her to become the world s foremost authority against the death penalty. In doing so, she has actively worked to shape the Catholic Church s stance on the issue, even to the point of influencing Pope John Paul II to request a revision to the Catholic Catechism. Pr[y_r We would like to ask all of our Parish family to pray for us in our mission to bring teens closer to Christ! Please pray that it is the Holy Spirit that guides every step we take this year. Pray that we never forget the words of St. Paul for when I am weak, then I am strong. 2Cor 12:10 Pray that we rely fully on God in His wisdom and mercy. Please pray that God will call us, those individuals whose gifts are most needed.
