Many weeks, even years go into the training of a successful athlete. *Hosted by Brothers of the Beloved Disciple Before we can compete we must become established, firmly rooted, grounded and settled in the faith. Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize? Run so as to win. (1 Corinthians 9:24) We may start out in the front lines, leading, but if our progress is not consistent we will fall behind. Flanagan Liaison for CCCR Father Bob Hogan, BBD Associate Liaison CONFERENCE THANKS AND CONFERENCE COMING I am very thankful for all those who made our March 4-5, Mission Possible: You Can Do It Conference a great blessing for many people. A special thanks to the English and Spanish Committees of CCCR; the office staff and volunteers at CCCR; the young adult groups who participated; and the help of many people at St. Mary Magdalen Church. We have now begun the countdown for our Jubilee (50 th Anniversary) celebration for Catholic Charismatic Renewal which we will celebrate on March 18, 2017 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center downtown with Spanish, English and Youth Tracks. Archbishop Gustavo has committed himself for the closing Mass. Ralph Martin from EWTN (member of the pope s council on the New Evangelization, founder of Renewal Ministries, international speaker, author, professor at the Detroit Archdiocese Seminary, prophetic leader in Charismatic Renewal) will be coming for the English Track. Jesse Romero from Catholic Radio (former police officer and kick boxing champion, evangelist, international speaker) will be coming for both the English and Spanish Tracks. We will have a great Jubilee celebration of the Holy Spirit, inviting our whole archdiocese, and people across Texas, to celebrate with us the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and the blessing of the Charismatic Renewal Movement for the Church. Our archdiocese in the Archdiocesan Assembly in November 2107 will be celebrating the Holy Spirit with the theme, Sent by the Spirit. So all of 2017 will have a special focus on the Holy Spirit. Ven, Holy Spirit, Ven! Upcoming Events Night of Renewal: Saturday, April 16, at 7:10 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Jubilee Hall. The Brothers of the Beloved Disciple (Fr. George, Fr. Will, Fr. Bob, Bro. Sean, Brother Gabe, Brother Ruben), assisted by the St. Mary Magdalen English Prayer Group, will lead us in the topic, Run So As To Win. We want to live as victorious, Easter people! You can be trained to be missionary disciples of Jesus with the desire, preparation, discipline and perseverance to be fruitful with Jesus and for Jesus. All are welcome. A love offering for CCCR will be taken. Bilingual Prayer Ministry Training Workshop: Friday, May 13, at 7:00 pm and Saturday, May 14, from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Jubilee Hall. All individuals who are involved with prayer ministry through the Catholic Center for Charismatic Renewal (CCCR), or any of the prayer groups (Spanish and English) that are associated with CCCR, must attend this training session to be recognized in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, as someone who is supported in this ministry by CCCR. If you are involved in prayer ministry, but cannot attend, you must contact Fr. Bob Hogan, BBD (fr.hogan@cccrsa.net or ) in order to continue with this ministry under the Center s supervision. Empowered by the Holy Spirit Seminar: Saturday, May 7, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Jubilee Hall: Sponsored by the St. Mary Magdalen English Prayer Group, and led by Fr. Bob Hogan, BBD. This seminar builds on the Life in the Spirit Seminar. It will be a practical Seminar, learning to live a life empowered by the Holy Spirit. April 2016-Page 2

3 From Esme Ramirez, Co-Chair English Service Committee. Our sincere thanks and gratitude to each of you for working diligently in the preparation of the 2016 Regional Conference. What a great unique celebration! This year in the conference there was a change in the air, as new doors were opened with the special involvement of our young adult groups and ministries. Everyone experienced the love of God through adoration, prayer, songs of praise, worship, testimony, and teaching. It's been an exciting year. You are given a great deal of credit for working in unity towards one goal, and all for the glory of God! We would like to thank Fr. Bob Hogan, BBD and Fr. Will Combs BBD, and all the people for a job well done this past year. We couldn't have made it without you. We don't want to leave anyone's name out. There are many names, ministries, and organizations that helped out this year. Thank you! Thank you once again for making this conference, Mission Possible: You Can Do It, a great success! We look forward to the 50 th Anniversary of the Charismatic Renewal. Together in God's grace we ask the entire Church to participate in intentional preparation as we approach the 50th Anniversary Jubilee of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in All of our groups are encouraged to reach out to one another, fostering the unity of the Spirit in the Renewal, with the Church, and ecumenism (unity with all Christians). Let us open wide the doors of our hearts to the joy of forgiveness, conscious that we have been given new confidence and hope, and thus make our daily lives humble instruments of God's love. Let us prepare and get ready for this Jubilee Year with a special focus on prayer and intercession. We will need many volunteers, and many gifts, as we seek to make this a special Year of the Holy Spirit, and reach out to many people in our archdiocese and beyond. Brothers and sisters, it is a special time to renew our zeal for souls; promote the New Evangelization; and develop a culture of Pentecost, a culture of the Holy Spirit. Fueron tantos los testimonios de bendicion y sanacion que recibimos cada dia, que no hay manera de dar gracias a un Dios tan bueno y tan presente en la comunidad de San Antonio. Gracias a todos nuestros servidores maravillosos, que nos regalaron mas que su tiempo, nos dieron un pedacito del cielo dejandose tocar en el servicio por el Espiritu Santo. 4 EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT SEMINAR Saturday, May 7, 2016 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Jubilee Hall 9:30 am to 5:00 pm: Bring a bag lunch. Sponsored by the St. Mary Magdalen Church and the English Prayer Group (Community of My Beloved) along with Fr. Bob Hogan, BBD, Director of the Catholic Center for Charismatic Renewal, who will lead us in the Seminar. This seminar builds on the Life in the Spirit Seminar, but people can attend who have not yet gone through a Life in the Spirit Seminar. We encourage anyone involved in a Church Ministry to attend to learn more about being led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Teaching Sessions: The Holy Spirit in the Scriptures Transformation by the Holy Spirit Spiritual Gifts for Ministry, Part 1 Spiritual Gifts for Ministry, Part 2 Prayer for the Empowerment of the Holy Spirit This will be a practical seminar where people will practice ways of: 1) Applying knowledge about the Holy Spirit to empower their lives. 2) Being set free from fear and unhealthy, compulsive behaviors in one s life. 3) Receiving spiritual gifts to minister Jesus presence to others. 4) Using of spiritual gifts in their daily lives. 5) Praying for all the graces of the Holy Spirit to empower one s life. 5 CCCR Prayer Ministry Training (bilingual) Entrenamiento para el Ministerio de Oraciόn ALL ENGLISH AND SPANISH PRAYER GROUPS/ PARA TODOS LOS GRUPOS All individuals who are involved with prayer ministry (praying for healing, for commitment to Jesus, for the Holy Spirit, etc.) through the Catholic Center for Charismatic Renewal (CCCR) or any of the prayer groups that are associated with CCCR must attend this training session in order to continue in this ministry. Todas las personas que estάn involucradas con el ministerio de oraciόn en el CCCR o cualquier otro grupo de oraciόn asociado con el CCCR, deberά atender esta sesiόn de entrenamiento para poder continuar en este ministerio. It is important that we can demonstrate to the Archdiocese of San Antonio that all the people from our groups who are involved in prayer ministry have received the same training. If you are involved with prayer ministry, but for some reason cannot attend this training, you must inform Fr.
