Bob Iabichella My Brother Knights: I had the pleasure of representing our Council at the State Convention In Santa Clara, and I learned a lot what should be done within the Council. The meetings went well and the State Deputy was talking about how each council should be working with the Chapters. I know that our council is not in the chapter but after talking with Brother Knights from all over the State they said we should be. I also learned that we use to be the number one council in the State and now we dropped to three. I believe we need to get our retention up, and that what we need to do is call out Brothers that are that are in danger of being suspended. If we know anyone that needs to get there dues paid let s call them. We had our campout and Memorial BBQ and wow what a success it was. As chairman of the event it would not have happened without the help of PGK Scott Hayes, Brother Todd Yaroslaski & Gary Yaroslaski. I would like to personally thank them for their help. As you all know the Council Election is coming up so if any of you brothers want to run for a position then do so at the next council meeting. Also there will be 5 openings coming up in the Columbus Club. That s it for now and see you in June. God Bless Robert Iabichella Grand Knight 2
Father Tom Baker SANCTIFY CHRIST AS LORD IN YOUR HEARTS On Sunday, May 25 the 2 nd reading began with the words: Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts (1 Peter3:15). These are very special words to me as my 25 th anniversary of priestly ordination approaches (actual date is June 10). Even before I became a priest, I desired to know Jesus Christ and to have His words and His way dominate my choices and life style. As a priest these 25 years I have tried to stay close to Jesus, to grow in holiness and to lead others to Him. I have been called to minister in the inner city and in the desert, to the shut-in and the incarcerated, to the old and to the young. While I have never been completely successful in what I do, I am reminded of the words of Mother Teresa who said: We are called to be faithful not successful. While I pray for success, faithfulness is more important. Please pray for me that I can continue to serve God and His people faithfully. I was ordained a priest by Cardinal Mahony on June 10, 1989. Now, 25 years later, I find myself serving here at Sacred Heart Church in Lancaster. I am grateful to God that I have persevered through these 25 years as a priest. They have been years of great growth, tremendous blessing and outstanding ministry. I have been privileged to journey with many wonderful people from the various parishes where I have served, as well as devoted priests. Pray for me that I may remain faithful and that I may always Sanctify Christ as Lord in my heart. Let us pray for more vocations and for one another. Peace. Fr. Tom PS I will celebrate Silver Anniversary Masses at the 11:00am and 2:30pm Masses on Sunday, June 15, where there will be simple receptions in the Hall after those Masses. 3
Vince Interrante Dear Brother Knights, Through the many years that I have been reading our local newspaper, like most, I would usually browse through the news stories quickly before reading in greater detail. In doing so, it was usually William Warford s short articles under the category, "Some of the most outrageous things," that intrigued me the most. Within a few minutes it allowed me to determine the possible direction or opinion that was being suggested. Throughout the internet, I have come across many pro-life articles that reveal a great deal just by their titles alone. When you read the ones I listed below, I think you will agree that the Pro-abortion camp is definitely within the "Some of the most outrageous things" category and now, more than ever, you can see how far they are willing to go to keep abortion legal. Woman Who Filmed Her Abortion For YouTube: I Feel Super Great About Having An Abortion LifeSiteNews.com In her video, 25 year old actress Emily Letts exclaims, cool after her abortion. Two Australian Ethicists Argue For Acceptance Of After Birth Abortions LiveActionNews.org The ethicists believe that it may be in the parent s best interest to terminate life, not the newborns. Using Dead Babies For Fuel OnlineForLife.org Remains of aborted babies are being incinerated as clinical waste along with the remains of other rubbish to create power to heat hospitals in the United Kingdom. Vicious Attack by Abortion Supporter Draws Blood on YouTube OperationRescue.org A woman brutally attacked a peaceful pro-life protester outside a late-term abortion mill in New Mexico. Earlier, a man threatened protestors with a gun and another jumped his car over the curb in attempt to run into others. Pro-life Teen Called, Domestic Terrorist in Petition Supporting Professor Of Feminism FoxNews.com 16 year old Thrin Short of Ventura County, California was pushed at least three times by associated Professor Mirelle Miller-Young during a anti-abortion outreach event at U.C. Santa Barbara and stole her sign. Man Who Dropped Off Girlfriend for Abortion Pulls Gun on Pro-Life Advocate LifeSiteNews.com Arizona man who dropped off his girlfriend at a Phoenix Planned Parenthood abortion center, pulled out a gun on a pro-life advocate after she handed him a brochure with information on alternatives. Proud Abortion Advocates Come Out Of The Closet LiveActionNews.org advocate MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry says newborn infants don t count as alive unless parents decide they do; infanticide is the new abortion. to be continued Yours in Christ, Vincent D. A Message From Our Knights of Columbus Insurance Field Agent Bob Monaco Ways to Pay for Whole Life We live in a world of options and we are constantly bombarded by choices. Some of these make our lives more complicated, but many of these choices are created with our satisfaction in mind. At the Knights of Columbus, every product we offer has been designed solely for the benefit of our members and their families. When I present an option to you, it s because a team of experts has discussed it at length to be certain it serves your best interest. We have a few options on how you can provide and pay for the whole life coverage that your family needs. Many whole life policies call for premiums to be paid for your entire life or to age 100. But we also offer permanent life coverage with guaranteed cash values (and the potential to earn dividends, which are not guaranteed) through policies that offer a limited period of premium payments. First, we offer 10 Pay Life and 20 Pay Life. Consider paying premiums for 10 or 20 years, and never having to pay for the coverage again. The plan is paid up and no more premiums are due. The plan stays in force, the death benefit remains intact and the guaranteed cash value continues to grow. A plan with similar benefits is Life Paid Up at 65. The difference over 10 or 20 Pay Life plans is that this permanent product requires you to pay premiums until age 65. Then, premiums stop (just in time for retirement), but the plan remains in force. Finally, the ultimate in limited pay is our Single Premium Life product. Imagine buying life insurance permanent life insurance and only paying one single premium? It s possible. To learn more about these products, our long-term care insurance, disability income or retirement products, please call me today. Bob Monaco 661-992-3556 Bob.monaco@kofc.org 5
