Lynch PGK 732-269-4405 GRAND KNIGHT S REPORT Dear Brother Knights: Happy New Year! Hope everyone and their families had a joyous Christmas season. I would like to thank everyone for their thoughtfulness during my time of need. When I make my home visits for St. Vincent de Paul I encounter many people in dire situations, but I never thought it would happen to me one day. Well I'm finally back to work and receiving normal paychecks again. If it wasn't for the Knights and St. Vincent de Paul Society, I don't know what I would have done. Remember if you need any furniture removed just call 1-800-Move-me. If I don't answer just keep trying, I will eventually. We held our 1st. degree on November 18th. in honor of Brother John Taylor. We will be presenting John with a framed scroll honoring him signed by the 1st. degree candidates Ron Filan, Jim Higgins and Rob Livingston, who also made their 2nd. degree on November 24th. and their 3rd. degree on December 11th. Congratulations guys and John, you are in my prayers daily, please get well soon my brother. I would like to thank all who helped out at Father Al's vigil on the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Father Al was very pleased with the way everything turned out. Also thanks go out to all those brothers who helped out with the delivery of the Thanksgiving food baskets, and the gifts for project joy. Also a special thank you goes out to our District Deputy John Gazis who provided the food along with his council members at St. Martha's for our interfaith families on Thanksgiving. The families were very grateful and said the dinner was delicious. Our Christmas party will be held on January 8th. in Father Brennan Hall and will be combined with the 4th. degree party which was postponed due to the snowstorm. Details to follow. Our 2nd. Annual Knight at the Races will be held on February 13th in Father Rucki Hall. It promises to be even better than last year with more races added. Anyone who would like to help out is asked to call Deputy Grand Knight Jim Mlodgenski at 732-349- 1755. Please remember our brothers who are ill, especially John Taylor, John Kelly, Will Stockham, Bill Martin, Joe and Pat Colleta, Joe Mockapetris, Jennifer Fortunato and anyone else I may have left out. And finally let us remember in our prayers Former District Deputy Dave Stoll who passed away in December from stage 4 cancer. Please keep his family in your prayers. May all my brothers and their families have a safe, happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Vivat Jesus, Vincent Eckersley Grand Knight

Chaplin s Report Dear Brother Knights, Can you believe another year has gone by? New Year s is such a wonderful celebration. It is a time when we are reminded that we can all start again. It is another chance to make some necessary changes in our lives. Many people give up smoking or drinking too much or make resolutions to lose weight or exercise more. These are all excellent and important resolutions. At the same time, however, it is also another opportunity to make our Spiritual New Year s resolutions. Maybe we can pray more, say the rosary every day or once a week. Maybe we can commit to another act of charity or decide to be more proactive in the prolife movement or with groups that assist the poor or those with special needs. There are so many possibilities and now is the perfect time to examine our lives. It is the perfect opportunity to ask ourselves, How is my relationship with God? Am I really as committed, as I ought to be? Am I doing enough to serve my parish, my community and those in need? Each one of us will have different answers to these questions but pray over them. Let us ask God to light up our souls so that we can see the truth of our current spiritual state. Then, let us ask him to lead us wherever he wishes us to go in this New Year. Happy, healthy, prosperous and joyful New Year to all of you and your families! With much love and affection, Fr. Alberto Tamayo Chaplain Baptism Procedure 1- All babies receive gifts at the first Sunday mass. 2- Members of K of C St. Barnabas Council #8603 and their immediate families who have a baptism at the St. Barnabas Church, Bayville, NJ in a private ceremony will receive gifts at the ceremony provided that the Brother Knight gives the Council two weeks notice. Should the Brother Knight fail to give the Council two weeks notice the gifts will not be presented at the ceremony but can be picked up at the Parish Office when they are ready. 3- Members of K of C St. Barnabas Council #8603 and their immediate families who have a baptism at a church other then the St. Barnabas Church, Bayville, NJ can pick up their gifts at the Parish Office provided that the Brother Knight gives the Council two weeks notice.

March For Life As you know, every year our parish & thousands of other parishes all across this great nation of ours, communicate to our fellow countrymen our desire to right a wrong committed on January 22, 1973. We invite you to join with St. Barnabas Church on January 22 nd for a pilgrimage to our Nation s Capital to speak for the innocent who cannot speak for themselves. It s a truly remarkable day! The coming together of brothers & sisters of all generations from all walks of life. To peacefully voice the need for change in the way our government views the unborn through prayer & presence. Our day starts off with Mass, movies on the bus coming & going, dinner at the world famous Cactus Willie s and the immense feeling of love that last a lifetime. As Knights of Columbus, a strong turnout would be a fitting example to our parish, our community and our government. Please call 732-269-2208 ext.306 to reserve your seat on the bus. Looking forward to see you my brothers, Sir Knight Peter Fortunato Hospitalized Brothers If you know of a Brother Knight from Council # 8603 who has been hospitalized for three days or more, please contact George Vogt at 732-269-2916 so we can present him with our Council 8603 robe. New Sir Knights Congratulations to the 23 new Sir Knights who made their 4 th Degree Exemplification on November 8 th, 2009. The 23 new Sir Knights is an all time record for the John D. McMahon Assembly. Among the 23 new Sir Knights where six of our Brothers from St Barnabas Council #8603. Congratulations to Fr. SK Al Tamayo, SK Dave R. Guild, SK Craig J. Kostick, SK Scott R. Mackintosh, SK Michael J. Masucci Jr, and SK Donald J. O Connor. Also Congratulations to new St Barnabas #8603 members Ron Filan, Jim Higgins and Rob Livingston who completed their 3 rd Degree on December 11 th, 2009.

INSURANCE CORNER NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS I hope all my brother Knights and their families had a great Christmas and New Year holiday. There are many things to be grateful for and concerned about heading into 2010. One thing I believe should be a priority is to review your current investment and insurance portfolio. When times are difficult and uncertain it is even more important to make sure our family is protected in case of emergency or untimely events. As your Knights of Columbus agent I am available and qualified to help you make sure of this resolution for the New Year. For any questions or to schedule a review, please contact me at 732-606-1616. Fraternally, James Castrovilly Field Agent Message from Brother DeCaro I would like to introduce myself to you as follow Knight who is also in Council #8603. Member # 1377045. I lived in Bayville when I was on the Faculty at Georgian Court University. I have been living in Melbourne, Florida for the past eight years. The family moved to Florida because of my son Philip who has Autism. We moved from Bayville after a teacher dragged my son on the floor and dislocated his shoulder. We thought we found that special physician in Florida but after several visits and thousands of dollars we moved on. Today, I am the owner of the Star Center a school for autistic children. (A 501 C3 Not for profit Corp). www.starcenterforautism.com You will find that we operate out of two Catholic schools, Our Lady of Lourdes in the Diocese of Orlando and St. Joseph School in the Diocese of Venice along with Methodist, Jewish and Baptist schools. We have been invited to open a school in Jersey City by the Superintendent of Schools. The Archdiocese of Newark has approved us to open at Our Lady of Victories School in Jersey City. As you can see what I did to help my son has turned in something bigger than I imagined. You can also find me on www.usaafricachamber.org if you scroll down you will find me (bald headed guy with glasses and a mean face) as the Chairman of the Board of Advisors. You will also see me with my son Frank III. The Archbishop of Kinshasa has asked me to open a school in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. My reasoning for sharing this with you is because I need some help both financially and with help in preparing Our Lady of Victories with painting, clean up and light renovations. As a family we do not get paid for our work. If you would be kind to share this E-mail to the right person in New Haven it would be much appreciated. God Bless you and Merry Christmas Frank DeCaro, Ph.D. Cell 321-432-9418
