SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE KING NOVEMBER 25, 2018 FROM THE DESK OF...FATHER MICHAEL KALUZA MASS INTENTIONS November 27 December 2 Every Church year concludes with the solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, which highlights a central truth within our deposit of faith: Jesus Christ is the universal king and judge of all. Our readings this week focus on the kingship of Jesus and our need to recognize that kingship in our lives. It is a kingship that offers salvation for those who acknowledge his might and majesty. The Gospel is a reminder that truth is found in the person of Jesus Christ and those who seek the truth are carefully listening to his voice. It is a voice that calls us to follow God s ways. Our attentiveness to God s activity in the world and in our lives helps us to recognize the many titles ascribed to Jesus in the second reading from the book of Revelation. Jesus truly is all of them and even much more: faithful witness, firstborn of the dead, ruler of the kings, alpha and omega, the one who is, was and will be and truly the almighty! If we remember that through the kingship of Jesus in our lives, we can achieve salvation and everlasting life, then we are strengthened in our resolve to grow in virtue! As we close out the church year, we also consider that next week we begin a new liturgical year. It is a time to make resolutions, grow in holiness and desire to make changes in our lives. May we resolve to stay close to the Church so that we can discover the beauty of truth and goodness. We always have opportunities to better learn our faith and witness our dedication to evangelize. When we are close to the Church, we are close to heaven! And heaven is the destiny for those who acknowledge Jesus as Lord and King! God bless you! Father Michael Kaluza Tues. (6:30p) Wed. The gifts are brought from the far end of the church through the assembly to indicate these are gifts from the people. Most importantly, this indicates the people are making a gift of themselves to be transformed with the bread and wine. If you and/or your family would like to bring the gifts to the altar, please let one of the ushers know before Mass.

United in Faith, Honoring our Past, Shaping our Future! T H A N K Y O U! On this Thanksgiving weekend as we gather with friends and family we are reminded of the many gifts that we have been given not the least of which are the gifts of gratitude and patience. Just over one year ago, we held the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Parish Life Center. Who could have guessed at that time the project would have suffered one delay after another! We are all frustrated with the delays, but we know patience is a virtue! Patience demonstrates the ability to endure challenges and speed bumps without getting too easily flustered and bent out of shape. We are a patient people! Even though we don t see a building and instead see a pile of dirt, that doesn t mean there hasn t been a dedicated group of parishioners who have spent countless hours planning, meeting, negotiating and groveling to get us to where we are today. We are a grateful to all the parishioners who have continued to trust in this project and remain committed to their financial pledge. People who are grateful are more patient because they measure their challenges against their blessings. Since they are aware of their blessings, they say We can accept this challenge, Lord. After all, you have given us so much. We are a grateful people! We expect Century Link to be completed by November 30. Once they are done, work on the footings and foundation should move swiftly. Mary Queen of Peace, thank you for the gifts of Patience and Gratitude! For timely updates on the project, go to: https://mqpcatholic.org/ parish-life-center
