WHERE: WHEN: To better help us understand the issues before us this election year, Suzanne Lafreniere,JD, from the Office of Public Policy with the Diocese of Portland will be visiting our parish to speak and answer questions on the upcoming election. Church Hall October 9th, 10:30 & 12 Noon A message from Bishop Robert P.Deeley As you are well aware, we are in the midst of election season. It is hardly necessary to remind you of that fact since the season seems unending. Now, however, we draw closer to November and the actual election. That election is not just a vote for a president, as important as that is, but votes for representation in Congress and other ballot issues. It seems, therefore, a good time to remind you that the Church affirms that every Catholic is called to prayerful, active, and responsible participation in the political process. As such, I urge all Catholics in Maine who are eligible, to register and vote. We are both Catholics and Mainers and follow the dual calling of faith and citizenship. "The Holy Spirit- God's Loving Mercy" Renewal Conference in Topsham October 15, 2016 Sr. Elizabeth Platt! The Holy Spirit---God s Loving Mercy renewal conference is scheduled for Saturday, October 15, at the Sky-Hy Conference & Renewal Center in Topsham. Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR, a nationally-known author and presenter, will serve as the keynote speaker. In 2015, Fr. Pivonka released his latest book, Breath of God: Living a Life Led by the Holy Spirit. He has held several positions at the Franciscan University of Steubenville and is currently the director of Franciscan Pathways, an evangelistic outreach of the Franciscan Community. IT S NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN US! "The Lamb of God," "The Bread of Life," "The Body and the Blood of Christ"... these are phrases we know from the Mass. But do we understand what they mean in the greater and deeper context of Scripture and Church teaching? Acclaimed author and teacher Dr. Brant Pitre rigorously digs down to the biblical roots of the Eucharist, through it s foreshadowing in the miraculous events of the Old Testament, the Gospels, and Apostolic teaching. Come discover firsthand how "this is My Body" and "this is My Blood" is an integral and wondrous part of God's plan for our salvation. Offered on Sundays, before and after Mass for your convenience!
