Well, you have your boy friend, or your girl friend, or your business associate, or some one you have a liking for, or some one who has done a kind act f o r you, or, perhaps, you own m a n y friends, dear friends, so numerous are they t h a t you never attempted to count them. Perhaps, it is so, when all goes well and life is like a summer day, it m a y appear so, however, the best of men have looked earnestly f a r and near and discovered their friends were few. So, how m a n y friends have you? This leads me to counsel you of a few friends t h a t we all m a y have. Pick out some one t h a t you can respect and trust, in whom you can confide, to w h o m you can go f o r advice, or to whom you can talk in confidence, if occasion demands. Sometimes the h e a r t is lonely and one needs a friend who will give sympathy, and who is strong and clear in eye and brain, a friendly hand to clasp your fingers a n d breathe hope and courage to your wavering spirit. There is no area of human existence so barren, u n f r u i t f u l or brutish but t h a t a human friend m a y be found. Another friend you must find is yourself, t h a t is it, be a friend to yourself, take pride in yourself, respect yourself, look up to yourself, be somebody. I have heard it said t h a t m a n y folks a r e their worst enemy, t h a t is true of the drunkard, gambler, liar, thief, the No. 13 shirk, the one who knows neither his strength or his weakness, the one without peace or hope or happiness. You owe it to yourself to be a considerate friend, to safeg u a r d your interests, allow no enemy to beguile you, be up and doing like a hero, because you are, and because you have possibilities within. Don't sell cheap, buck up and be proud of your own existence. Sell the world the idea t h a t you are a traveler, a light bearer, God's man, something infinitely more t h a n dirt, t h a t you a r e homeward bound. Look up and be a friend to yourself. T h a t is two, so t a k e on a n o t h e r friend, His n a m e is called Jesus. You cannot a f f o r d to be without this friend. He is the best of all friends. H e will h e a r you when you call, He will help you when you fall, so embrace this friend. My personal testimony is, you can endure anything, you can stand up u n d e r any load if you stay close to this friend. You ask, How can Jesus help me? He will help you by g r a n t i n g you will help you by g r a n t i n g you divine guidance, by His comfort. His peace, His joy. Make your friend, stick close to Him. He will never tire of your company, the only condition on your p a r t is faithfulness and sincerity. Be true to Him, H e will see you safely through life, then out across the boundless deep to His own dear home. T r u s t Him, t r y Him, own Him. He is the friend you need. Say not to yourself t h a t this Jesus passed f r o m E a r t h long, long ago. I say, H e is here now and near you too, and all power and wisdom of the Mighty God

With one accord in song and sermon they acclaim Jesus who is the Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. While the beauty of the music the pageantry and achievements of men in the presentation of such, may be taking the chief place in the m ; nds of many, without doubt there are thousands, yes possibly even millions the world over who put Jesus first in their lives the Easter Day. And it seems that the praise grows greater with the passing years, or is it just us. Maybe we are getting older and listen more closely. Wickedness may abound in the hearts of many. Sinners may occupy high places. Churches may be filled with hypocrites, but the fact of a risen Lord is proclaimed today, we believe, as i 1 ever before. Can this be the c houi of the multitude before the coming of the King? Students of prophecy, (yes we believe in prophecy) point to the fulfillment of many s'gns which are to proceed a change in dispensation. Whether this is to take place in our life time is problematical. However, as Christians, it behooves us to watch and pray lest we be found unprepared and unworthy at the Lord's coming. Let us put away all selfishness, greed, malice, hate, hyprocisy, impurity and lust. Let us put on the whole armour of God, meaning thereby that we are filled with God's Word and Holiness. On Easter Sunday with the mercury near zero and the ground all covered with snow it was a grand and glorious sight to have thirty tree sparrows partaking of a Sunday evening lunch of corn meal mixture on Ted Brittan's west lawn. Does anyone else remember what the first day of spring was like thirty years ago? Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Brittan remember well THAT 1940 March 21st for it was the day of the arrival of their first child, Elberta, who is the wife of a former Stow boy, H. L. Witsaman, now living in their new home on Long Island, New York. That day was so warm that windows and doors were wide open and Mr. Brittan reports he had lettuce, radishes and onions planted and up in his garden at their apartment in South Akron. This week we want to emphasize that fact. The officers, directors, and committee members are responsible to the membership for handling the business affairs of the Credit Union, but the Credit Union will not grow and render the maximum benefit to its members unless the members themselves make the most of every opportunity to build up their Credit Union.
