Thank you to the Thibault-Neun Funeral Home of Franklin and the Paquette-Neun Funeral Home of Northfield for providing them again this year. WE NEED MORE MUSICIANS!!! In the past couple months, we have lost three organists and a guitarist. This means that we are down to two teams for the 6 PM Mass and only two organists for the other three Masses. In fairness to them, we definitely need to recruit more help. Do you know someone with a musical background, who is willing to help us out? Perhaps a pianist who would be willing to take organ lessons. We could help pay for the lessons. Our music ministry is such a meaningful and important part of our liturgy. We must do all we can to make sure it stays that way. Servers Lectors Eucharistic Ministers Greeters THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK Who do you think you are? How would you answer this question? You could inform them of your job title, college degrees or years of experience. This would certainly let them know that you know what you are doing. John the Baptist took a different tactic: he told them who he was not. He s not the Christ, not a prophet, not an expert, just a voice in the desert crying out on God s behalf. He wanted the focus to be on the message, not the messenger. Like the Baptist, we often have opportunities to speak out on God s behalf. Someone may bring up a statement from the Pope, ask us why we go to Church, or say or do things that challenge our faith and values. We usually feel uncomfortable when this happens and either give some lame, ineffective answer, or pretend we didn t hear. We fear that if we come across as too pushy or too confident, we ll be hit with that dreaded question: Who do you think you are? We are well aware that our faith isn t that strong, our theology is far from extensive or solid and our Christian life is not that Christian. We re afraid of looking foolish. Well, tell that to the disheveled half-naked man, stomping along the Jordan River, eating bugs and honey and shouting out to passers-by. Apparently, he didn t care what people thought of him: his pride didn t keep him quiet! Who are you? If you re a disciple of Jesus, you re a voice crying out in the town square: Prepare to meet Jesus, the answer to your prayers. He wants to tell you who you really are. Looking as foolish and inept as John the Baptist will get you noticed and heard. It will also help you figure out who you really are: a messenger from God. You simply take the label for your family, choose one of the four angel designs, put the label on the angel and then have your family hang the ornament on the tree. Please put the name (s) on an angel and then please let us know so that we can correct our records. THERE IS NO COST TO DO THIS!
