UMW News & Activities The Morning Glories group of the Wesley United Methodist Women will meet on Tuesday, August 15, at 10:00 am. In the Rock House. Ellen Brown will give the devotional and the hostesses will be Etta Jensen and Wanda Blaylock. Doris Cruce has invited Brenda Holmes to present a program about The Essential Oils of the Bible. She will share with us the oils and spices such as Myrrh, Frankincense, Spikenard and many others that were used in biblical times for healing, anointing, and cleansing- it should be a very interesting revelation! Anyone (including men) who is interested in this information is invited to attend our August meeting. If you plan to attend the meeting and lunch, please contact Doris Cruce, (479) 646-8289, so we can prepare enough food for everyone because the following the Program and Business Meeting we will have our potluck Salad Luncheon. Our United Methodist Women unit is continuing to collect the Best Choice UPC Labels- we lack only about 200 labels to meet our required number. We appreciate your help! UMW unit meeting Saturday, August 5 at 9:30 am at the Rock House. Goddard UMW is inviting us to hear Jenny Sorey, founder and executive director of Hub of Hope. The subject is human trafficking. The date for this is Saturday August 5, 9am to noon. Details for this will be posted to the UMW bulletin board. I know this is a conflict, if need be we can reschedule unit meeting. God bless you - Doris Cruce United Methodist Men meet at Cavanaugh for breakfast the first Saturday of the month at 7 a.m. Bring shoes for our shoe giveaway Sunday, August 13! We will also bless our kids backpacks that day in worship. August will be our last big mailing of the newsletter! Based on the results of the Poll of how people read the newsletter, and in an effort to reduce our expenses, we will only mail the newsletter to people who specifically request it. We will have copies available to pick up at the church, and we will continue to email it out. So if you are (or could be) on our email list, or you regularly attend church, we ask that you get the newsletter those ways. We hope to cut our printing and mailing expense by $30 a month this way. If you still need it by mail, however, call the church at 479-646-9702 or email us at wesleyumcfs@yahoo.com. Pastor Michelle will be at Bob and Ellie s on Wednesdays at 8 a.m. Stop by!

Greetings Greetings Friends! I have a few announcements regarding choir and handbells. First, I am offering a bootcamp for bells on Tuesday, August 1st at 5:30 pm. This is an opportunity to come and try it out. We will learn the basics of reading music and bell ringing. Second, we will be having a choir party Wednesday, August 2nd at 6:00pm. Shirley Wilson will be hosting. Choir members, please contact Shirley with questions regarding food. This would be a great time to become acquainted with choir members!! If you are interested in joining choir we would love to have you! We will have a great time of fun and fellowship! Third, both bells and choir rehearsal will resume Wednesday, August 9th. With bells at 6:00pm and choir at 7:00pm. Peace, Priscilla Eclipse Trip Want to go see the solar eclipse taking place on Monday, August 21? Then join us on our next Bible on the Bus! We will leave Sunday afternoon, August 20 around 2p.m and drive to Jefferson City, Missouri, where we will spend the night with our sister church, Wesley United Methodist Church of Jefferson City. We will fellowship with the people there, and then view the eclipse just after 1p.m on Monday before heading back home. We will talk about prophecies and unusual astronomical events in the Bible part of the way up and back. Cost will be minimal. You will need to bring money for meals (2 dinners, breakfast, and lunch) Donations toward gas for the vans and for our host church would be appreciated. If interested contact the church office or Pastor Michelle (michelle.morris@arumc.org; 870-635-1519) Cavanaugh is under Renovation Cavanaugh UMC is undergoing renovations of its Sanctuary. For the months of July and August (at least) they will be worshipping in their Fellowship Hall while its paneling is removed and drywall goes up, and the carpet is replaced. Please keep this work in your prayers. We will have a sanctuary rededication service that is tentatively scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, but watch the September newsletter for more details.
