A Message From James Hubbard Dear New Covenant Families and Friends, With prayer, planning and great anticipation, New Covenant Christian School was founded over 31 years ago. Since its founding, God has blessed New Covenant immeasurably. We are grateful for the heritage of founders who dared to believe by stepping out in faith to build a Christian school in Lebanon. From humble beginnings with a handful of students, our school has grown and now boasts 225 students in grades Pre-K through 12 and more than 30 staff and faculty. Our facilities, although significantly improved in recent years, are beginning to deteriorate and show major signs of wear. In essence, our facilities are losing their ability to accommodate the growth of our student body and the expansion of our extracurricular activities. It is now our turn to step out in faith to re-imagine New Covenant Christian School for the future to BUILD TODAY, IMPACT TOMORROW. We believe our purpose as a Christian school is to give our students the right tools and the best Christcentered education they can get. Why? Because we believe God is asking us to do more to impact the community, to become difference makers for His kingdom and to tangibly impact the world by first touching the lives of our students and families. I have prayed, along with the Board, our pastoral advisors, our faculty and staff, and asked God for His direction on the next steps for our school. Recently, you were asked to assist through a feasibility study. Our Board members have been asked to rise and lead the way. So, what is next? To renovate and to build!! We believe it is time to improve our current facilities to accommodate expansion and to enhance the learning environment. We also believe it is time to add another building in the form of a Student Life Center that will house additional classrooms and take care of current athletic needs and requirements. To build, we need a campaign...our goal is not simply fundraising, but the strengthening of our children to be ever more faithful, vibrant and committed to Christ. We believe, with God s guidance, we can do this! The theme of our campaign is BUILD TODAY, IMPACT TOMORROW and that is what we are seeking to do. It is not just about a building or renovations; it is about the building of faith and trust in our God. Renovations will occur not just of the physical building, but of the heart as we learn to trust Him for more. Will you partner with us as God physically and spiritually transforms New Covenant? We are asking for your support. We believe that as we unite around this vision, generously committing our gifts of faith and resources -- each doing our fair share -- New Covenant Christian School will be positioned to continue the legacy with which we are entrusted with renewed vision and boldness. Frequently Asked Questions Q: Why are the renovations and projects necessary? A: Currently, our school is effectively and sufficiently serving the student body. However, our classrooms are old and expensive to heat in the cold months and in places, the roof, flooring and ceilings are deteriorating and in need of repair. We firmly believe we can best accommodate students and offer excellence in education if we improve our facility. Additionally, the new Student Life Center will offer us space for concerts, plays, community events, and graduation ceremonies. It will also provide much needed athletic space (including PIAA-sized volleyball/basketball courts) to accommodate home games for New Covenant sports, plus make available for Christian outreach to the community for church and family gatherings, athletics and fundraising events. Q: How do I make a contribution? A: You will be asked to make a Faith Promise. This is a gift commitment that represents a sacrifice to support God s work at NCCS. The amount you pledge may be given over a three-year period. You will be presented with many Share Plans from which to choose, and you can decide what fits your family s ability to contribute. Once you choose, you will be given specially-marked envelopes, which you will use to make your contribution. Q: Is the Faith Promise Card I sign a legal document? A: No. The Faith Promise Card is not a promissory note. It is a declaration of intent, a commitment made in faith -- a Faith Promise. It is understood that your gift may be revised should circumstances deem it necessary. The Faith Promise is, however, tax deductible if you itemize on your federal tax return. Q: May I change my Faith Promise later in the campaign? A: Yes, of course. The future of any member is uncertain. Some may find themselves in better circumstances and be able to give more; while others may face an unforeseen situation that may cause them to lower their giving. The purpose of the Faith Promise Card is to give New Covenant Christian School an idea of how much we can expect to raise. It is better for you to indicate the largest amount you will give rather than an amount you will easily exceed. Q: Can I give assets other than cash? A: Yes. There are other ways available to you, such as property, stocks or other tangible assets. Please contact the school office at (717) 274-2423 for further information. Q: How long will the campaign last? A: The campaign will cover a three-year period and is based on 150 weeks. You may, however, pay your commitment in full at any time. Q: When will construction begin? A: We are hopeful that we will be able to start on some of the renovation work at the school over the summer. The construction of the Student Life Center is projected to begin in 2015, but this will depend on the generosity of giving. NEW COVENANT CHRISTIAN SCHOOL: A BRIEF HISTORY New Covenant Christian School (NCCS) is an association-run school that has been in existence since 1982. Originally founded by local Mennonite and Church of the Brethren congregations seeking a different approach to Christian education in this area, it now serves students from over 85 congregations and represents a wide variety of church traditions. Students attend from Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Schuylkill counties. Sept. 10, 1982 Doors opened on N. 14th Street at Lebanon Christian Fellowship. 1983 Purchased first property at South Fifth Avenue. 1986 Marked the first eighthgrade graduate. 1987 Student growth necessitated the purchase of modular classrooms. April 30, 1990 Fire destroys all of the modular classrooms. Nov. 4, 1990 Groundbreaking for new building on Birch Road. 1991 First eighthgrade graduate who attended K-8 at NCCS.

Creative Giving: Think Outside The Box We are moving forward in faith and are expectant of the work God will do through New Covenant Christian School. The projects we have planned for the improvement of our current building and creation of new facilities are an exciting undertaking to the school. It is only through generosity and prayer over sacrificial commitment that we will be able to meet our objectives. Phase One of our capital campaign is projected to cost $1.6 million and will include (1) the renovations to improve our current facility and (2) building the basic structure of the new Student Life Center, including the gymnasium. Phase Two will add classrooms, athletic support areas (i.e. locker rooms, etc.) and additional storage, taking the cumulative projected cost to $2.5 million. While this seems like a large amount, participation by all members of the school family will not only make this goal attainable, but surpassable! Faith Promises are a practical gift plan to pledge an allotted amount to the Building Plan. However, it is important to remember to think outside the box! There are countless other ideas for creative giving, such as: SELL SOMETHING A significant gift may be as accessible as a trip to the basement, garage or shed. We all have stuff packed away. What might you find that could be sold for a better cause? Some ideas include unused jewelry, sporting goods, glassware, antiques, coin collections, equipment, and decorations. Let these be used to glorify the Lord! SACRIFICIAL GIVING Is there an item you frequently splurge on that you would be willing to sacrifice for the sake of the campaign? Daily coffee runs? Newspapers? Fast food? You might eat out one less time per week or month, wash your own car, or vacation closer to home. One $1.50 beverage per day doesn t sound like a big sacrifice, but it adds up! $1.50/ day = $10.50/week = $546/year = $1,638 in three years. Or, start clipping coupons and donate the money you save. YARD SALE Pull together with another family or two and make a fun day out of it! Spring cleaning is a great way to accomplish an item on your To Do list while benefitting the school. CONSIDER YOUR ASSETS Stocks and real estate can be transferred to New Covenant Christian School, resulting in potential tax savings. LEAVE A LEGACY If you would like to continue the ministry after you are gone, please consider listing New Covenant in your will. *We can assist in liquidation if necessary. The school is located in the former Ebenezer Elementary School building, next to the Ebenezer Fire Company, along Route 72 north of Lebanon. The present 52,000 square foot building, surrounded by both school and township playing fields, provides a great setting for students NCCS currently serves. 1991 Birch Road building opened. 1997 Moved to Ebenezer Road. 1998 High School launched; ninth grade added. June 2, 2002 First High School graduation. 2002 High School annual mission trips established. Aug. 2011 Accepted for PIAA membership in sports. Fall 2011 NC Online inaugurated; offered High School elective courses. Jan. 2013 First students enrolled in Supplemental Support Services.
