Collect for Sunday 26th November - Sunday before Advent God the Father, help us to hear the call of Christ the King and to follow in his service, whose kingdom has no end; for he reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, one glory Amen VICAR S LETTER The Angels are coming is just such a brilliant idea! I really hope that as we reach the final stage of this project that it will catch the imagination of both young and old. Stage one is the knitting, a lot of knitting! Stage two is using all the angels to decorate the Hunsley Churches Together tree at the Christmas Tree Festival in Brough Village Hall. Stage three will be when a team of volunteers go out early in the morning of the 18th December and hang angels around the streets of our villages, especially on the route to our primary schools. Stage four the final stage will be when children, old folk, joggers etc start to find the angels pick them up, read the label each one will have and take them home to keep. The Christmas story is full of angels, God s messengers. They famously appear to Mary, Joseph and the shepherds. When they appear they carry three important messages: 1. Fear not. 2. God is doing something special. 3.God wants to use you. I pray that the angels will carry that message which is still true today for all of us. 1. Don t be afraid of God but welcome his involvement in your life. 2. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour for God so loved the world that he gave us his one and only son, that whoever believes in him will have eternal life. 3. Be part of what God has planned for your life. HAPPY CHRISTMAS Revd The Angels are coming Under Julie Branton s guidance there are many angels being knitted at the moment! These will all gather at All Saints Brough on Thursday 30th November. They will then travel to Elloughton & Brough Village Hall where they will be used to decorate the Hunsley Churches Together Christmas tree. The Town Council s Christmas Tree Festival is on Saturday 2nd December in the Village Hall, Elloughton Road from 10.00am. Decorated Christmas Trees will be on display by local children's groups and organisations. Ladies Events 2017 We have continued to run events under the banner of 'fun, friendship and faith'. This year we have reduced slightly the number of events we have run as busy lives make it difficult with only a small group doing the organizing. Last December we ran a fantastic Christmas Spectacular. We tried our hand at Origami boxes and present wrapping and were inspired as our speaker challenged us to the unchanging nature of the Christmas Story in a changing world. In July we had a Herb-tastic evening. Some of the ladies from the staff team at Mires Beck encouraged us by what we saw, smelled and tasted to be more informed and interested in herbs. A really fun evening that ended up with us all taking potted herbs and recipes home. We have had a few supper evenings at the Red Hawk, all who go enjoy the chatter and the food. We enjoyed breakfast together in May as we listened to Liz Green encourage us on our walk of faith. By the time you read this we will have had another breakfast and will be busy planning for a larger event in the New Year. Once again my thanks go to Julie Heinzman, Cathie Farrar and Sally Todd who have been supportive and worked hard to make every event run smoothly and to all of the Ladies from the Church and the village who have been willing to have a go and maybe try something new. Liz Fryer HULL LIVE NATIVITY The journey starts in Queen Victoria Square from 1.00pm, followed by an interactive procession through the Old Town to Trinity Square
