Around Our School Term 1 Week 10 28 March 2017 39 Benfer Road VICTORIA POINT 4165 Ph: 07 3207 6628 Fax: 07 3207 6734 Email: pvictoriapoint@bne.catholic.edu.au Online: www.stritasvp.qld.edu.au FROM THE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members, Over the coming weeks there will be a lot of activity and focus on the Passion of Jesus as we get ready to celebrate Holy Week. Once again we renew our faith by remembering Jesus words and actions in events leading up to his death and resurrection. When we remember the events of Palm Sunday we are reminded that Jesus wanted people to love and praise God. At the Last Supper, Jesus showed us how to be community by sharing bread and wine with his apostles. He wanted us to serve one another and demonstrated this by washing the feet of the apostles. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus showed us that we can turn to God and pray when we are worried and can trust God to be with us always. When Jesus was crucified, he showed us his great, self-sacrificing, love for us. This liturgical season leading up to Easter is a significant one in our church and full of ritual and symbolism. You are all welcome to join us for our Holy Week Liturgies this week at 2.30pm in Unitas. Holy Week Liturgies Wednesday ~ Palm Sunday lead by Year 2 and 3 Thursday ~ Last Supper lead by Year 4 and 5 Friday ~ Crucifixion lead by Year 6 IMPORTANT DATES Friday 31 March Last Day of Term 1 Tuesday 18 April First Day of Term 2 Family Mass Thank you to the families who joined us for mass on Sunday, some special thanks go out to our students who were happy to read some of the prayers of the faithful for us. We appreciated your support. School Fees A request was made from the Archdiocesan Development Fund late in the year in 2016 for a Voluntary Parish Contribution to be considered by School Board early 2017. After some discussion with our Support Accountant, School Board and Fr Joseph, we will be adding a $10 Voluntary Parish Contribution to our School Fees Account beginning in Term 2. This will be added to the fees each term and is voluntary. As we wrap up Term 1 we thank you for your support and wish you a joyous Easter. May the holiday time bring some respite to the busyness of the school run each day and we return for a vibrant and productive Term 2 on Tuesday 18 April. May you have The gladness of Easter, which is Hope The promise of Easter, which is Peace The spirit of Easter, which is Love Tuesday 18 April (first day of Term 2) Resurrection @ 2.30 For Holy Week liturgy times and Easter masses in our parish please see the St Rita s parish website page at http://www.stritasparish.org/holy-week-2017/
