FISCAL MANAGEMENT Charity Navigator, America s leading independent charity evaluator, has bestowed its fifth consecutive 4-star rating on Jewish National Fund (JNF) for the organization s sound fiscal management. JNF was recently named to The Chronicle of Philanthropy s annual Philanthropy 400 list of the nation s biggest charities. Of the 22 Jewish charities that made the list, JNF was one of only four Jewish organizations that saw a boost in fundraising totals. ETHAN ZOHN is a former professional soccer player, cancer survivor, winner of the hit reality television show Survivor Africa and co-founder of Grassroot Soccer. As demonstrated by his charitable work, volunteerism, and community involvement, Ethan believes that a better and healthier world can be achieved through education, advocacy and inspiration From winning Survivor and founding an HIV/AIDS non-profit with the prize winnings, to his battle with cancer, the texture of Ethan s life story is illuminated in the dynamic speeches he gives to groups big and small around the country. Weaving humor, wit and honesty, Ethan addresses his audiences about how his life s opportunities and challenges are two sides of the same coin. It s the values that you strengthen along the way like muscles that really matter. The values I learned growing up Jewish definitely helped me win Survivor and helped me survive cancer. My Jewish identity has always revolved around being selfless, being a leader, being a member of the community; and each of those has been essential in shaping my life choices. My first trip to Israel was in 1997 where sports and the Maccabiah Games were my main focus. However, during my most recent trip to Israel I had a transformative experience. I gained a whole new perspective on life, love and religion. Traveling around Israel with my fiancé, Lisa, visiting the holy sites, tasting the foods, and meeting fellow Jews was a wonderful, comforting, healing and educational experience.
