2 Kol Isha November/December, 2018 ~ Heshvan Kislev / Kislev Tevet 5779 Spirituality President s Message Dear Sisterhood Members and Friends, As the Jewish New Year unfolds and the secular year draws to a finish, we often find ourselves very, very busy with friends, family, and multiple commitments. It IS a very hectic time for many of us, often further complicated by poor weather, illness, and unforeseen intrusions. But, it is also that time when many of us are so blessed to be able to get together, party and dine with friends and family members some not seen since the previous year. Growing up, I was fortunate to have strong female relatives and family friends who declared their independence in a time when women were supposed to stay home. I say this because it s at this time of year, when large parties and lots of cooking were often prefaced with: Well, I m working on such and such a day and can only make it on this day. We managed, we compromised, and well, we often catered. And, the men were often called in to help. My own father was the family latke fryer. My stepgrandparents always catered and our family Chanukah parties were often Christmas day because, well, that was when everyone could get off work and come. Of course, Sisterhood has some wonderful events to complement the holiday season. We are offering our Holiday Boutique on Sunday, November 18th in conjunction with the ECC Boutique. On Monday, December 3rd, we will come together to celebrate Chanukah. Please check future mailings, emails, and updates for details on these events. I hope to see everyone at both occasions. By the time this newsletter is released, the WRJPD convention in San Diego will have concluded. I hope to update everyone later about this. Also, many thanks to all the ladies who made our Dinner in the Sukkah come together. I look forward to all of our events coming up in 2019. As always, ALL of the women of TAE are welcome to all of our events. I encourage everyone to get involved and participate. Whatever you can bring in time, help, ideas, and volunteerism is always welcome. Do not hesitate to contact me or other Sisterhood members. Follow us on Facebook, our temple website and of course, through the Kol Isha and Bazman. You can always contact me at: dianerishe@yahoo.com. Diane Rishe Check out our TAE Facebook page (https://www. facebook.com/taesisterhood) and of course take a look at our page on the new TAE Website.
