Once the food is blessed, we will party! If you are able to bring something, please call the parish secretary (566-1876). Tutti siete invitati! All are invited! -Choir will meet at 6:00 pm Pastoral Pondering Our church s Lenten theme this year is my soul is thirsting. It s inspired by the song we have selected by Bob Hurd for our Lenten season. Water is something that we often take for granted in North America, but in many parts of the world, fresh, drinkable water is a scarcity. Many people must travel for miles daily just to bring back enough water for their families to survive. To them, being thirsty is a normal part of every day living. While we may not have the scarcity of actual water to deal with, we do sometimes go through periods of drought and aridity in the spiritual life, analogous to the thirst for water that some have. ---times when we can t feel the consolations of God. ---times when we may feel that God is far removed from our lives or from our concerns ----times when we may think that God has forgotten or abandoned us or left us to our own resources. ---times when our lives are difficult, our relationships strained, and our vision for a brighter future is muddied. In such times, our souls begin to thirst for the one who can give us living water! Our souls long for the one who parted the waters and led the Israelites out of slavery and into the freedom of God s sons and daughters. Our souls thirst for the one who walked on water and calmed the storms! Our souls thirst for the one who led by example and was baptized in water so as demonstrate how new life is possible. Our souls thirst for Jesus Christ, the living God! This Lent, perhaps we can satiate our thirst by finding ways to draw closer to the Lord. Maybe we can celebrate Eucharist more faithfully. Maybe we can turn to the Lord and ask for repentance of our sins in Reconciliation. Maybe we can read the bible more regularly and reflect on its importance in our daily living. Maybe we can meditate and pray in the morning to live the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Our maybe.. You fill in the blank! Do whatever it is that the Lord inspires you to do to drink from the fountain of His love and never look back! A pastoral pondering as we begin our first week of Lent.
