1 JANJJan June 2016 2015 Commodore s Report Tim Dies I want to thank our members for an outstanding Spring Work Party and Opening Day. Our club shines as we enter into the boating season. A special thank you to our membership chair Pat Hansen for inducting our new members at the last meeting. We now have new BBQ s thanks to Kevin Haistings and Ric Visentainer. I will be ready to throw burgers and brats at our next Dock Friday. Hopefully our members that have not headed north yet can join us. The dock expansion project is steaming along and we hope to have financing in place before we start putting pilings in this October. Our moorage list is growing and we hope to fill the new dock fully after completion. Members are encouraged to get on the wait list as we have the best moorage on Lake Union. This coming weekend is our Memorial Day Cruise to Everett and I hope to see you all there. By boat or car or horse if need be. And I look forward to fun and games, great food and relaxing on the dock. Vice Commodore s Report Paul Smith Opening Day was a great success and I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the people that made it possible by either donating their time at the Spring Work party, or an individual contribution during Opening Day itself: Tim Dies & BryAnna Rae Pat Hansen & Bill Traver Cindy & Bob Josephson Carol & Dave Cass Garry & Sharon Moore Dave & Nancy Morton Trina Smith, my lovely wife Kevin & Joyce Carlson Joe & Kathy Ornelas Jerry & Colleen Zitkovich Rick & Janet Josephson Kal & Diana Harris Matt & Pam Kaman Deborah Marositz Jerry Eichner & Mary Hutchison David Meissner Bill & Peggy Allen Mike Haistings Rich Visintainer Doug Irish If I have missed anyone, my apologies. Thank you for making Opening Day a weekend to remember! It truly takes a village. Facilities report: As previously mentioned, the interior and the grounds look spectacular. Mike Haistings and Rich Visintainer located and purchased 2 high quality BBQ grills under budget. At long last, the ice machine will be replaced once we are able to schedule the installation with the chosen vendor. As always, if you note an issue with facilities or would like to pass along some general feedback, please don t hesitate to contact me.

2 Rear Commodore s Report Bob Josephson Our Dock Friday the evening before Opening Day was a very fun evening with a great turnout. Thanks to Mike & Lisa Haistings for arranging the margarita mixer, which was loaned to us from CSR Marine. It was a hit! We also thank those that helped Carol and Cindy get everything organized for dinner Laura, Peggy, Bill (the mixologist), Joyce (supervisor) did I miss anyone? Sorry if I did, but your help was appreciated. Our next Dock Friday is June 3 rd and we will go back to the traditional. Burgs and Dogs will be provided. BYOB. We will provide a couple of sides and chips. Please RSVP to CindyJ@pugetsoundyc.org Barbeques will start up about 5:30. $5 per person. Look forward to seeing you on the dock. Then follows the Cigar & Whiskey Night w/bbq Instruction on June 18 th put on by Rich Tremaglio & Kevin Haistings. It s a great meaty night so please see the flyer below if you are interested. The July dock Friday (7/1) will be organized by new member Doug Irish. Stay tuned for what he might have in store for us Fleet Captain s Report Robert Murphy Ok, WOW. What more can you say about Opening Day this year? Our official start to the boating season was crazy warm. A great opening ceremony followed up by some 80 degree weather during the day could not be beat. Let s hope we have that kind of weather this summer. Now to the present. Memorial Day will probably be in swing by the time our Sound Waves comes out. This year we have a big cruise headed to Everett with over 50 people signed up. A big cruise team of the Ellingsons, Zitkoviches, M&L Haistings, Orrs, Shenemans and B&C Josephsons are putting on the spread. We have prime rib, golf, and bocci ball. I expect a great time. Keep your fingers crossed for dry weather. Next month our Hat Island Cruise and Golf Tournament (June 24-26th) is filling up fast. We have a dozen boats signed up already. I encourage new members to join this cruise. Hat Island is a great place to go and unplug. Enjoy the beach walks, golf, and dock side chats. Please contact Jerry or Collen Zitkovich for reservations. PSYC does not have an official cruise this July, but in August we have our annual Andrew's Bay anchor out. That will be over the weekend of August 19 th 21 st and sponsored by Chris Kullman. September will be the Port Orchard Cruise (2 nd - 5 th ) which will be over the Labor Day weekend. Cruise captains will be myself and the Robinsons. Please start contacting me now for Port Orchard. Stay tuned for an official flyer and details in the next few weeks. Enjoy the weather and safe boating.

3 Membership Report Pat Hansen At the May General Meeting we welcomed 5 additional new members. Doug & Gillian Irish, Meghan Sanford and Ken Roach. (Pictures are in order) I know that many of you will say I only see 4 people. You are right. However we also initiated Teresa Bresee Ken s wife. Teresa was planning to be there but at the last minute she needed to be with her father. Ken promised to be in good standing for both of them - so Teresa was initiated in absentia. Also 2 additional prospective members were introduced Renee and Geoff Frank. Please come meet them at our Dock Friday on June 3rd. We have had a great year and welcomed 12 new members so far thanks mainly to our participation at the Boat Show, our current members bringing in their friends, and PSYC s reputation for being a Great Yacht Club! It is the start of our cruising season and summer vacations so please continue to spread the word about our Club. Would love to see the motivation continue and welcome more new members this fall. Also if you recommend new members you will be the one to initiate them. With my help, of course. Hope to see you all at Dock Friday!
