The Emmaus News Camp Lakeview New location for Walks Preview at February Gathering The February Gathering will be held at Camp Lakeview, the new home of the Columbus IN Emmaus Community Walks, starting with the Spring Men s Walk # 51. You will be able to tour the facilities starting at 6:30 p.m. Please park and begin the tour at the dining hall. The Camp Lakeview facilities offer us much opportunity for expansion. Friday, February 20th Camp Lakeview 13500 W. Lake Road, Seymour *6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tour facilities (*note different start time) 7:30 p.m. Gathering See Map on page 4 for directions Application Fees for Upcoming Walks VOLUME 12,ISSUE 1 F EBRUARY 2004 INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Feb. Gathering 1 Application Fees 1 4th Day Mentors 2 Supply Donations 2 New Member Profiles 2+3 Chrysalis News 3 Camp Lakeview Map 4 Board Members 5 Walks fees increased to $85 Effective with the spring 2004 walks, pilgrim and team fees will be increased to $85. Please mark this new price on any applications you intend to use. For those pilgrims who have already registered, we will honor the previous $75 fee. Even though the move to Camp Lakeview will save us money compared to Camp Moneto, we still need a fee increase to cover other walk and administrative costs that have increased since our last fee increase 5 or 6 years ago. Where else can you get three nights lodging At $85, we are still on the low range compared to other communities who use retreat facilities. The average is about $100 with some in the $125 to $130 range. We budget carefully and do our own cooking to keep costs to a minimum. Where else can you get three nights lodging and eight great meals for only $85? Plus the snack table and free entertainment! As always, full and partial scholarships are available for those pilgrims and team members who need them. In the case of scholarships it always helps when sponsors can afford to pay at least the $20 registration fee for their pilgrims. and eight great meals Scholarships for only $85? Plus the We are currently in need of donations snack table and free to the scholarship fund. We have less entertainment, too! than $200 at this time. Perhaps you can help with this part of our ministry. Just mail your check to: Columbus, Indiana Area Emmaus Community, P.O. Box 2184, Columbus, IN 47202-2184.

P AGE 2 Fourth Days We need a few good people! I am in the process of organizing Reunion Groups for our Emmaus Community. Each group that is organized with all new pilgrims will need a mentor to get them started. It will require meeting a few times with this new reunion group to help them get acquainted with the 4th day meeting format. If you feel God calling you to this, please contact me. Don t delay, new reunion groups and the spring walks are fast approaching You can also contact me if you are still looking to join a group. Rev. Marianne Green Phone: 812-358-5661 Email: mgreen@insightbb.com Address: 416 Kelly Dr. Brownstown, IN 47220 Mentors are needed to help new Reunion Groups get started. V OLUME 12,ISSUE 1 Supplies Requested The board is looking for various ways to reduce costs and control expenses. The following is a list of possible items that you could bring to gatherings to help us offset supply costs for the upcoming Spring Walks Boxes of tissues/kleenex) Ink pens Banner Repair Anyone interested in helping out by freshening up banners can contact Gordon Meek 812-342-3829 New Member Profile My name is Mike Riley, Columbus Area Emmaus Walk 12 table of Silas. I am a new board member and I am serving as Data Coordinator. My job is to obtain and maintain community information such as pilgrim information, team selection information, mailing lists, community member information, manuals, handouts and any data determined necessary by the board. When you turn in a Community Information Sheet I am the one who makes sure that information gets recorded into the community database. I have lived in Columbus since 1952 when my parents moved us here from Franklin. I worked for Cummins for 30 years and retired in 1999. I now teach electronics and computer repair at Columbus North High School. My wife Jane (Walk #14) and I have three sons. Mike Jr. age 32, Jonathan age 29, and Jacob age 20. Mike has three children, Jonathan two for a total of five wonderful grandchildren. I have pictures if you would like to see them! Jane and I recently became members of Fist Baptist Church in Columbus. We have been very active in the Columbus Community since our original walks nine years ago. I truly believe that Emmaus is one of the ways God is bringing spiritual renewal to our churches. I am looking forward to working with the board and the community as I serve God in this new position. Please keep us in your prayers as we seek to follow God's will. Mike Riley Data Coordinator

T HE EMMAUS NEWS P AGE 3 New Member Profile Blessings to all! My name is Cheryl Hunt, Walk # 31, Table of Lydia and I am a new Board member as of January 2004. I serve in the position of Newsletter. It is my job to communicate to the Columbus IN Emmaus Community about upcoming activities and information specific to the Emmaus Community. I will collect articles from board and community members about information on previous walks, upcoming walks, Fourth Day news and other news related to Emmaus programs. My husband, Curt, and I went through the fall walks in 1999. It opened us up to a whole new relationship with God. Curt answered the call to ministry that following spring. That summer I acquired a new role of minister s wife, as Curt was assigned to a part time pastorate at Marietta United Methodist Church in Shelby County. It has been an awesome blessing. Curt will graduate from The Emmaus News seminary this spring (2004). My son Ryan will be 17 in March and he is a mature teenager with a bright future ahead of him. My professional calling has been as a consultant to businesses, healthcare and nonprofit organizations assisting them in organizational development, planning, etc. My spare time consists mostly of my love for anything to do with art including watercolor, any kind of craft, and the graphic arts (hence my offer to do the Emmaus newsletter). If I can tie that together with my love of nature and animals then all the better! It is my privilege to serve our Lord, through the Emmaus Newsletter, and the Board and you my Friends in Christ Cheryl L. Hunt Emmaus Board Newsletter Chrysalis News THANKS!! Sitters are paid by Emmaus each time and will work with 1 to 3 others. Luke24: 13 35 Jesus on the road to Emmaus That same day two of Jesus followers were going to a town named Emmaus... They were talking about everything that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and began walking with them, but they were kept from recognizing him.. (After Jesus disappeared) They said to each other, It felt like a fire burning in us when Jesus talked to us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us. Have you felt the fire today? Share the warmth with others!
