From Our Pastor... Happy Mother s Day! What a wonderful tradition to honor our mothers on this weekend. They do so much for us, many things behind the scenes, that keep our families connected and rooted in faith! It was Jesus who first taught us to honor our mothers when in his last breath on the cross gave his Mother to us when he said, Behold your Mother. Today we pray that God will bless all our moms with extra grace and mercy! We also keep in our prayers all those who have lost their mothers and are grieving. This can also be a difficult day for some people whose experience of a mom was not so pleasant growing up. We pray for mothers-to-be, women who are waiting for a child to adopt, single moms, and all women who offer a mothering kind of love to the world. During this month of May we Catholics have a tradition of special devotions to Mary. I encourage you to do that in one or more of these ways: Pray the Rosary with your parish. It is prayed publicly in our church every Saturday at 4:30 before Mass and at 8:00 AM before the first Mass. Start praying the Rosary at home with the children and/ or grandchildren. Maybe start with just one decade dedicated to a special intention. Place a statue of Mary in a prominent place in your home during this month with a candle and flowers in what we call a May Altar to Mary. Do a scripture search for passages that include Mary and reflect on them. Make a donation to Fontabella, a home in our area for unwed pregnant women. I pray daily to Mary that she watches over our parish and lead us closer and closer to her Son, Jesus. Easter Peace, Fr. The Good Life: How to Build Your Life on God s 3 Bold Promises Coming to St. Clare June 6, 2015 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Featuring best selling author and speaker, Dr. Allen Hunt With Special Musical Guest George Lower Has anyone ever told you, You remind me of someone? St. Peter tells us in our first reading from Acts today that all people, including the Gen les, are called to become followers of Christ. In John s Gospel reading, Jesus gives us the commandment to love one another as I love you. As we celebrate the sixth Sunday of Easter, are we just a fan of Jesus, or are we becoming a true follower? In this great talk, Fan or Follower, Jeff Cavins reveals the difference. Reading and learning Catholic dogma and doctrine is necessary for us to grow in our faith, but some mes this becomes more of a hobby and we find we enjoy studying our faith more than living it. Jesus doesn t want us to stay there...he wants to transform our lives, to follow Him as His disciples did. Have you put knowledge of your faith to work? Who do you remind people of? In Fan or Follower, Jeff Cavins shares how he has come to see that Jesus wants us to surrender every bit of our own comfort to follow Him. There are many fans of Jesus in this world, but we are called to be His disciples. As a young adult, Jeff le the Catholic Church and became a Protestant Pastor for 12 years. A er returning to the Catholic Church, he became a na onally known speaker who has helped thousands come to a clearer understanding of Scripture and our Faith. Please check our kiosk in the Gathering Space for new CD and book tles. Suggested dona ons are: CDs - $3.00, Books - $4.00, Booklets $2.00. During this event, you'll discover prac cal, profound and specific ways to experience God s immense love, constant presence and unique plan for your life! What is the Good Life? How do we find it? How do we embrace it? God s 3 Bold Promises I Love You This talk will help you discover a profound experience of God s immense love. That love is what you re made for. God s love treasures, seeks and rejoices in you. I Will Never Leave You nor Abandon You We will all encounter moments in life where God feels distant or absent. Yet, God boldly promises never to leave us alone. He will not abandon us. His mercy and forgiveness will follow us wherever we go. I m Preparing a Place for You For every journey, it is important to begin with the end in mind. God has a des ny and a des na on in mind for you, His child. God s grace will draw you deeper into the good life that leads you there. Ticket sales a er weekend Masses during May or through the parish office.
